If I were the person that I used to be back in high school, or even directly after high school, I would fail these classes with straight “F”s. The reason is not because I was not smart enough, but because I was not willing to put in the effort, concentration, and dedication needed to get a good grade. This is hard work! Good thing I decided to grow up a bit in the past 14 years so I take it seriously.

Narrative: I moved to Kansas City, Kansas seven years ago. It all started when I was in 6th grade with these girls. I was a different race then them. They thought it would be cool to mess and try to get rid of the white girl. One day, they decided to try everything they possibly can to get me kicked out.

Middle School to High School In middle school, one thing that I thought of high school is that it wouldn’t be much different than middle school. I was told a lot of bad things about high school, people saying “just wait until you get to high school, everything gets a lot worse” or “you think it’s hard now? Just wait.” When I was in middle school, I was told as well as thought that high school wouldn’t be any different than middle school except for it being harder academic wise.

Newton was a town just east of the coast Ceils. The people were nice and friendly, it being a small town everybody knew each other. Maddie, Zach, Cody and Karen are all good friends. But ever since last year Maddie, Zach, Cody, and Karen noticed that the town has been becoming strange. The people were acting weird and bad things kept on happening.

Going into highschool, I was constantly asked by family, friends, and teachers the dreaded question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” While other fifteen year olds at the time seemed to know exactly what their dream occupation was, I had no clue. I went to school, studied, got good grades, but no specific class stood out to me as a favorite. This continued until I took my first chemistry class in my freshman year and my blurry idea of my future started to come into focus. From the beginning, I was immediately intrigued in chemistry.

Returning to college for me was something that really came unexpectedly. I joined the military in 2008 after stopping just three credits short of my degree in Culinary Arts at the Art Institute of Ft Lauderdale. I surely thought when I joined the Army that it would be my career until retirement so college was never in the books for me. However, as fate would have it I am here today recently retired from the Army at the age of 32 and enrolled as a full-time student. Even though my return to college was not planned I am truly excited to become proficient in a new trade.

High school has impacted my life in so many ways. High School taught me so many things, from personal relationships to creating a relationship with my education. As a freshman, I made a huge amount of mistakes and I regret doing foolish things, but I’ve realized, I was only maturing into the young adult I am today. Freshman year, I was out of focus and I was only trying to find myself. I would also prioritize other things and ignore my parent’s advice, where they would tell me to focus in school and give it my full attention.

Graduating High School A day I will never forget was the day that I graduated high school. All the emotions were overwhelming and hard to handle sometimes. It was hard to accept that one of the biggest chapters in my life was about to be over and I was about to start an even bigger one.

I couldn’t stand up. My legs felt as if they didn’t work and I could barely breath. This was the greatest feeling I’ve ever experienced. I knew I had just gotten my first high school swimming gold medal.

Personal Narrative Essay Believe it or not, sometimes a gracious action can bring a huge influence on a person. When I read the introduction that instructor Heller wrote, there is a sentence she wrote: “Sometimes the most influential moments in our lives are smaller moments, events that we may not recognize as influential until years after the experience.” For some reason, I related to it strongly. My story is about my high school experience. Also, I will share some significant moments in my life, and how these smaller moments changed my personality.

In middle school the worst part of my day was lunch. This wasn’t because I didn’t have anyone to sit with, but because it was the only part of my day in school where I saw my brother. Every day I would sit in the corner surrounded by friends and watch him wander around the cafeteria trying to find a place to sit. Usually he would pull up a chair next to a group of people, completely out of the conversation and keep to himself. He always sat on the end, a placeholder.

High school grows you into the person you are. I have great memories, good and bad, some learning experiences and some that I’ll take with me the rest of my life. My high school experience has influenced my development as a person inside and outside of the class by making me more independent, choosing friends wisely and teachers motivating me to attend college and accomplish goals I have set for myself. I have gained my independence slowly throughout high school. The importance of being independent is being secure with who you are and what you believe in.

Growing up in the 00’s in Sharon, Massachusetts meant living in secluded peacefulness that offered no interruptions your life. You weren’t tethered to any adult responsibilities and life was beautifully simple. Your world was roamed by your favorite superheroes, fluffy teddy bears and multi-colored lollipops. There was no stress, drama, nor conflict. You grew up in a typical 4-person family, with both parents and your older brother, Kevin.

I realized I wasn’t a good student my behavior inside the classroom was horrible but I could recognize I had a really good connection with my teachers even though I was super noisy in class and always laughing basically I was like a clown, until today I still talk to them as my second parents.
