Native Americans were the first to live in North America long before any European nation arrived. However, once Europeans began exploring and claiming the Native American land, conflict began. The French and Indian War received its name from the large number of Native Americans involved in the battles. While the Native American tribes varied, so did their loyalties. Majority of the natives sided with France, however some sided with the British. Prior to the war, the French were known for their peaceful relations with the natives. The overbearing control given to London contributed largely to the resentment colonists had toward British imperial policies.

However, from the Indians point of view, the French were a better choice to ally with because they were afraid the British were going to continue taking land from them. As a result, the French were supported by the Indians which allowed them to gain the advantage over the British’s tactics. “Aided by such reports, the French soon learned of the British fort that William Trent and his small group of men were constructing, and French forces moved swiftly to compel its surrender on April 17, 1754”

This itself resulted in many taxes and acts for the colonists. The loyalists established eight polices in the hopes of gaining money and power. The first act initiated was the Proclamation of 1763 witch forbade any settlement of the colonists west of the Appalachian mountains.
The French and Indian War was one of the bloodiest war fought on American soil that consolidated British dominance in the Western Hemisphere. It was also the precursor to the American Revolution, where colonists demanded freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness from Great Britain. The defeat of France and the resulting cession of North America to Great Britain caused several problems for Great Britain from the start. Having gained so much land at once and the resulting colonial migration east stretched many of Great Britain’s resources thin. Great Britain profited from the French and Indian War due to their gain in money, power, and land. They were able to claim the Ohio Valley, and they also captured the important city of Quebec from the French. From the article A history of Louisiana Before 1813 by Paul E. The American Revolution The French and Indian War impacted the American Revolution in many ways. Britain incurred a large debt from the cost of the war and the taxes that they imposed on the colonists created feelings of anger and rebellion that led to the revolution. As a result of the French and Indian war, the British were not at full strength which allowed the actions of the colonists to be more effective. Because of the outcome of the war, France was willing to help the colonists. Without the much needed help from the French the colonist may have never won the war.
