In the passage, the author claims that the Edmontosaurus migrated south in order to survive. However, the lecture refutes the view in the reading and argues that the arguments are not convincing. First of all, the passage establishes the view that Edmontosaurus diet drove them southward because there would have been no plants alive in the North Slope. By contrast, the professor in the lecture contends that Edmontosaur does not need to migrate to South to get food. Edmontosaur can get good quality of plants since it was 24 hours of sunshine during summer. Even during the winter, Edmontosaur can consume dead plants. This contradicts with the point made in the reading. Secondly, according to the reading material, since Edmontosaur lived in a herd, which indicate they have migration movement. However, lecturer asserts that another reason for Edmontosaur to live in herds may be extra protection, but not migration. Conversely, the speaker suggests there are juveniles in the herd, which cannot travel for long distance, they may slow down the migration speed. The herd cannot make a move with all the juveniles were left behind. They chose to survive on cold North Slope. This point is contrary to what is stated in the reading
