El Salvador: A Beautiful Country In Central America

Capitalism was an issue when he became Archbishop. Many people’s rights were taken away. The poor were victims of the repression. Innocent civilians were shot dead by the UN soldiers. There were also a lot of conflicts with the Catholic Church and the El Salvador government.

This is one of many comments that Eastman makes implying that men automatically expect women to take care of the household by themselves with little to no help. Many women spend every day taking care of the home, but it is not considered a job. In "Now We Can Begin." Crystal Eastman relates to every type of woman. She talks about the high class business women in society, but her main focus is on the typical housewives of America.

Throughout the book “The Bean Trees” by Barbara Kingsolver, there are many examples of nontraditional families. Your traditional nuclear family would consist of a father, mother, a child maybe two. You do not see that in “The Bean Trees”. One example of a nontraditional family would be before Taylor and her mother Alice before Taylor left Kentucky. Then another nontraditional family would be Estevan and Esperanza.

America and Guatemala are very different cultures; sometimes these cultures can be viewed in a poor light or it can be viewed in an interesting light, but I think these differences are very interesting and nice. One big difference that can be seen is that America loves upgrading technology and making technology to make life easier. In Guatemala, it is not like that. Guatemala does have some technology like smart phones and new types of cars, but if something is fine how it is, it is not upgraded and not much technology is made that would supposedly make their lives easier.

Guatemala is located in Central America and was once heavily populated with the Mayan population. Ever since the Spaniards took over the land that the Mayans called theirs, the Mayans became enslaved in their home country and have been struggling to regain power ever since. For many years the people of Guatemala have been poorly treated and have been constantly fighting to keep their land against the government. Guatemala has been at civil war for a very long time due to economic and political inequalities which in turn lead to the Mayans protesting against the governments that were causing damage to their land. Although the Mayans believed that these protests would solve the issues that they were facing but in reality the government just invested

Struggles of a Young Latina Every human being is born with a desire for a unique identity. Whether it is at their jobs, schools, or amongst their friends, people will always search for recognition. The House on Mango Street, a novel beautifully crafted by author Sandra Cisneros, depicts a young Latino girl's prolonged search for an identity.

The

Many people are undermined by the drawbacks of belonging to a low socioeconomic status. In The House on Mango Street, Esperanza is raised in a poor, Latino community, causing her to be introduced to poverty at an early age. This introduction of poverty affects Esperanza in many ways, one including that she is unable to find success. Esperanza struggles to achieve success in life because the cycle of poverty restricts her in a position in which she cannot break free from her socioeconomic status.

The

Women and Their Roles Stereotypes are ways that people put others into tiny boxes in order to feel like they are in control. In her story, The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros uses women stuck in gender roles to show how trapped many women in the her story are. Cisneros’s stereotypical roles for the women in Esperanza’s community are the homemaker, a man’s plaything, and isolated wife. Cisneros’s use of the characters including Alicia, Sally, and Rafaela emphasize the roles women are forced into.

“Bienvenidos a El Salvador,” the flight attendant announced over the intercom. I looked towards the windows and enjoyed the breathtaking scenery. I could see the long fields, the beautiful hills and valleys, and the volcanoes. The palm trees were bright green and the sky was filled with color. The land seemed to be filled with life.

If you have found yourself in this far-away land then it's likely you are a seasoned traveler. While Uruguay is ranked number one in Latin America as the most peaceful, democratic country with the least amount of corruption and a high standard of living, needless to say you still need to respect that every country is unique unto itself and not a knock-off of where you previously lived. There are differences that require adjustments and integration. The capital of Uruguay, Montevideo, is home to big city life that rivals well known cities anywhere in the world. Fine dining, modern cuisine, art galleries, concerts and a variety of cultural events are all part of the life of a Montevideon.

Women are expected to be the caretakers and the maids for the home. Any deviation from these roles are seen as unusual and are treated differently because of it. Even if the women do have careers that are as hard and tedious as their male counterparts they are expected. If we the second shift is to be less burdensome for women, first we must rid ourselves of the ridiculous expectations placed on
