The goal of this experiment is to find out what is the identity of the unknown hydrate? To answer this question first, we should know what a hydrate, and how to identify a hydrate using the law of constant proportions. A hydrate is a pure substance because it contains water molecules embedded in its crystal structure that does not vary. By heating the unknown hydrate, we can calculate the mass of the hydrated, and the percentage of water in the hydrate.

The purpose of this report is determine if sodium chloride is a viable option as a deicer on winter roads. To determine this, one must compare a multitude of factors. In this lab, the freezing point depression of water, enthalpy of dissolution, cost, and environmental impact will be discussed. A large factor in how effective a substance is as a deicer is it’s ability to decrease the freezing point of water. If the freezing point of water can be lowered, the outside temperature must be much colder to reach this new freezing point, resulting in less ice on the roads.
The lab started off by measuring critical materials for the lab: the mass of an an empty 100 mL beaker, mass of beaker and copper chloride together(52.30 g), and the mass of three iron nails(2.73 g). The goal of this experiment is to determine the number of moles of copper and iron that would be produced in the reaction of iron and copper(II) chloride, the ratio of moles of iron to moles of copper, and the percent yield of copper produced. 2.00 grams of copper(II) chloride was added in the beaker to mix with 15 mL of distilled water. Then, three dry nails are placed in the copper(II) chloride solution for approximately 25 minutes. The three nails have to be scraped clean by sandpaper to make the surface of the nail shiny; if the nails are not clean, then some unknown substances might accidentally mix into the reaction and cause variations of the result.

Sodium is the most important electrolyte to monitor during exercise or play. High losses of sodium, typically through sweat, can lead to muscle cramps, which can lead to decreased performance and possibly more major health complications. I also drink a lot of water, so I am hydrated whenever I need to complete a tough workout or a race. It also shows me what not to eat and drink. I try to stay away from eating too much sugar and I do not drink soda anymore. My coach tells us to watch what we eat and that every little thing you do could be the difference between winning and losing a meet.

A deficiency in sodium can put individuals at risk for contracting hyponatremia which is a dangerous condition in which an individual has too little sodium in their blood. The connection between sodium and water is directly correlated in keeping an equal ration of sodium and water in the body. For example, when the body contains too much salt, the body responds in keeping homeostasis by telling the individual to drink excessive water – polydipsia- until there is an equal balanced ratio of sodium to water. In addition, individuals who consume more than the recommended intake of salt tend to show signs of excessive weight gain, but in reality is just a side effect water weight in the body for this its way of maintaining a balance ratio until the salts are expelled from the body.
Your best option though would be chocolate milk because it has so much protein and repairs you sore achy muscles. Although most people drink water after sports Jason Karp said , “ It’s water but much much more!” This is important to know because if you think that chocolate milk is all sugar, you have to think again because it is really half water, half protein. Also chocolate milk is referred to professional athletes. Milk unleashed stated, “ Chocolate milk has been preferred more than sports drinks for Olympians and amateur athletes.”

Moreover, for doing daily workouts, I tend to do on average 30-45 minutes. So with that being said, the water is more beneficial to me. This may be due, to the fact that the sports drink will just replenish back those calories burnt doing the workout session.
