The story focuses on a fifteen year-old boy, Eliezer Wiesel, and his father as they suffer through time in both Auschwitz and Buchenwald, two of the most notorious Nazi death camps. Eliezer experiences unimaginably horrific events, such as the hanging of a young boy and people being burned alive in ditches filled with flames. Although many people were aware that these appalling acts were occurring, very few chose to make an effort to save those affected.

The Holocaust was a tragic event our history that all of us have heard about, but Elie Wiesel experienced it firsthand. After reading his book, Night, a novel describing his experience in a concentration camp, and his speech called Perils of Indifference, which talks about how humans shouldn’t be indifferent to problems, I decided that the book conveyed his message much more effectively because he displayed powerful emotion, has more themes, and writes it for everyone to read. In Night, Elie Wiesel is gives the readers a deeper understanding of his experience in the Holocaust by displaying more emotion than in Perils of Indifference. In the book, he gives his thoughts and decisions.

In the book Night by Elie Wiesel, Elie experiences horrific events at the hands of the Nazi Party. Opposite of what might be expected, rather than be cruel and hate the world, Elie instead takes his experiences and turns them on the positive side. He uses his tragic and horrific experiences to write the book Night and teach the world about what happened during the Holocaust. Elie’s goal was that we all remember and learn from what happened. The end result was that he won the Nobel Peace Prize for this book.

Written by Elie Wiesel and published in 1956, this autobiography is about Elie’s experience with his father in the Nazi Germany concentration camps in 1944-1945 during the Holocaust. I believe the author’s purpose in writing this memoir was to write about the cruelty of the Nazi soldiers in the concentration camps and to be a voice for the Jews, specifically his family. He wanted to be the “messenger of the dead among the living”.

NIght Elie Wiesel was a young boy when he experienced the holocaust, he lost almost everything he had built up. From family, to friends, to his faith in god itself. But as everything ended and he grew up he wrote a book. This book is Called “Night” and in this book he talks about everything he went through in the death camp Auschwitz, and how he survived the pure inhumanity. For Wiesel, he would never see his mother and young sister again, he and his father would ender harsh days and weeks within the camp walls. In the end Elie’s father died of dysentery, and Elie was liberated by Allies. In Night, Elie emphasize the important history of the Holocaust and the significance of remembering all that the Jewish people encountered. One of Elie’s main focuses in the novel Night is on the history of the Holocaust. By giving us clear details, we, as the reader, are able to see the events that took place during this time.

He told the story to make everyone know how wrong it was, he made everyone see that the Holocaust should never happen again.

However, in the speech he reflects upon his tribulations in the camps, and what he thinks about moving forward.

All through Elie Wiesel’s memoir, he sends a message to his audience about his concern with the amount of indifference being practiced throughout the world. Indifference is enticing, it seems easier to stay out of the way and not contribute, but, if one is aware of the horrific events occurring to their fellow human beings, then one should speak out and show support. In other words, if one stays silent when they know that others are casualties of genocide, persecution, oppression, they are not only indifferent, yet, accomplices to the ones administering the torment.
