On January 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln put out a preliminary Emancipation Proclamation. The main reason for the act was to free all slaves from the rebel states. The Act declaring that all slaves are free from that day forward, and free forever. The Emancipation Proclamation failed to free a single slave, but it was the turning point of the war. The government sent armed forces to free the slaves in rebel states. It’s was considered as the act of justice by the Constitution. The Proclamation is also recruited free blacks to join the Union army. For the next few years, thousands of freed slaves and free blacks fought in the Union Army and Navy.
