Across the world abusing prescription drugs causes more deaths than street drugs do combined (“International Statistics”). Prescription drugs are so easy to get ahold of and so easy to get addicted to. The misuse of prescription drugs have gotten out of hand. These drugs can cause unintentional overdoses easily. The misuse of prescription drugs can lead to addiction, affect the health of users in a dramatic way, and even cause death.

This book was enjoyable to read because it was thought provoking and interesting. I enjoyed his exploration and the science that came with it was eye opening. I didn’t know some of the things he brought up and it is always a pleasure to learn while reading. The most interesting thing I learned was the scientific effects that marijuana has on the human body and how we are on the edge of discovering exactly what it can and will be used for is recreation and medicine in the future. This book has changed my appreciation for plants and I am more thoughtful because of it.

Assuming no one saw him enter that part of the woods he figures he can cut some down and sell it for a significant amount of cash. He winds up doing this not once, not twice, but three times. Even though Patrick was a good brother and friend and tries to help others he didn't know how to help himself and find a love for himself and from the people are him. The Perks of Being a Wallflower theme of “we accept the love we think we deserve” is found throughout the book but in different ways for each character. Charlie is the main character so this theme is shown very strongly in him, but it is also shown strongly in Sam and Patrick. Each of them has different issues, like PTSD, sexual assault, not being loved, and is trying to find a way to get over it slowly.

Over the course of the semester, my main goal was to become a more precise writer and develop my identity as a writer. According too, the Portfolio Letter assignment sheet, becoming a better writer consists of precise planning, draft and revising. It also includes understanding a variety of academic genres by examining the basic characteristics that defines each type. In order too efficiently meet my goal of becoming a better writer, it was very important to have my work evaluated by others and myself as well. The use of rhetorical knowledge, critical thinking, reading and writing all are the important aspects in this course.

The importance of books is used as a symbol and a focal point to show each characters true values and feelings.
