As we can notice traditional classroom cannot longer satisfy the needs of education in the 21st- century. So we have to make radical changes in order to create the classroom that will motivate students to learn. Teachers today teach using different pedagogical approaches and various instructional methods. According to fact that our educational system is changed with the help of technology the 21st -century classroom should be a productive environment where students can develop the skills they will need in workplace. The modern 21st-century classrooms should encourage students to develop their high order thinking skills. The new classroom should be equipped with modern technology which will help students to meet new goals. The 21st-century classroom should be more centered on students. Teachers are expected to be facilitators of learning process instead of being mere providers of knowledge. We should pay attention to classrooms for young learners it should be a place where they feel cared and safe. It should be a great place to be, beautiful place and creative environment. Teachers have to use different pedagogical approaches. They should participate actively in their learning and to assist professional development. The …show more content…
It is one of the most effective forms of learning. Working in isolation is very restrictive and gives a slow progress. Critical thinking is also encouraged when learners work in groups. Through collaborative activities such as writing, debates, group projects and more they learn to work together and to respect each other contribution. The traditional relationship between student and teacher is changed with collaborative learning. We cannot exclude technology which helps to develop all these characteristic of the modern classroom. These classrooms help student to enhance their knowledge and to prepare themselves for higher
Due to Reich’s personal experience as a teacher, he understands that while it is a simpler solution for a teacher to banish classroom technology, he argues that it is not only up to the teachers for changes to be made. He affirms through his own experience that there needs to be support from the university administrators to train and educate instructors of the importance of classroom technology in the 21st century, which appeals to the faculty he is
Hi Bailee, I agree with you that we need to change the way we teach because technologies got more advanced and it would be helpful if we ultilize it in our teaching routine. Technologies can also help students be more engage in the classroom instead of listening to boring lecture. This will help entertain students while improve education.
In conclusion students' learning methods have advanced dramatically, from Socratic classrooms to virtual schools. Every day, scientists develop new technologies, so who knows how pupils will study in another 100 years? Classrooms in schools should be places where everyone can learn to create a better future for all of us. Notwithstanding the changes of the previous century, so much more could be done to improve education for all.
Each year, more and more students are coming to college to study. Colleges require some student to take developmental courses before students take their major class because colleges think these students may do not have enough basic knowledge to handle the major class. In Montgomery College, most students have to take developmental courses in the first semester. After that, these students are allowed to take their majors. However, not every student who took the developmental courses gets success in their majors.
Cooperative learning model is an active process where students work in small teams/groups, each with students of different levels of ability, use a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding of a subject. Students have opportunities to actively participate in their learning, question and challenge each other, share and discuss their ideas, and adopt their learning. Ross and Smyth (1995) describe successful cooperative learning tasks as intellectually demanding, creative, open-ended, and involve higher order thinking tasks. In this model, it is essential to create a positive climate where interpersonal skills can be promoted so that positive emotions will be fostered among learners. Cooperative learning also helps the learners to feel empowered and respected to prepare them to face real
An effective teacher is likely to switch and mix new approaches to suit the objectives of the unit of work or lesson. As objectives vary within a lesson, the effective teacher will move between different teaching approaches or methods. The teacher begins by deciding what he or she wishes to achieve and then chooses the most appropriate method of realizing those objectives. By injecting pedagogical approach to teaching, students can have a better chance and can engage to physical education and sports.
As Smylie (1995, as cited in Gay, 2010) states, the duty of the teachers is not only learning new subjects and instructional strategies, but also changing their beliefs of practice and “theories of

According to Dr. Banerjee (2015) students gives more ideas about the task assigned to them in collaborative learning process. Each student has a very important role in having a collaborative work. Learning is what students “do” and not what they “get” as passive receivers. The teachers are the facilitators of the students and not the “giver” of knowledge. Through this process the students learn not by being fed the information, but rather giving their own insights on a certain topic as well as the insight of others.
This essay will explained the kind of teacher professional identity promoted by SACE and COTEP under the pillars of curriculum 2005 and NQF forming part of the white paper 1995 in redefining identity and difference in the education system after 1994 and it will also discuss how this identity did not and could not match the realities on the ground. Professionalism is the personal effort to act in a job that reveals fitting attitudes, behaviors and practices of the job. In teaching these attitudes may be: “having specialized knowledge which is the content knowledge and the ability to teach were teachers gain this on a lengthy period of higher education which is a four years to obtain the B ed degree were in the lengthy period teachers in the making learn to focus client interest maintaining a high level of responsibility learning and obtaining the ethical code of conduct” (SAIDE, 2010). By producing good quality results a teacher will be showing professional skills. Professionals require considerable freedom or autonomy to make judgments because they have to draw on knowledge based skills It is also showing that you believe in being professionally autonomous while accountable to the standards of you practice by having professional control over the credentials and the entry to teaching” ( SAIDE, 2010).
[47] argue that students report increased team skills as a result of cooperative learning. This is as Panitz [48] cites a number of benefits of cooperative learning for developing the interpersonal skills required for effective teamwork. As observed, there is broad empirical support for the central premise of cooperative learning, that cooperation is more effective than competition for promoting a range of positive learning outcomes. These results include enhanced academic achievement and a number of attitudinal outcomes. In addition, cooperative learning provides a natural environment in which to enhance interpersonal skills and there are rational arguments and evidence to show the effectiveness of cooperation in this
Through this activity, the teachers assure that the learners are able to participate fully in the curriculum. As the supports given by the teacher the learners allow them to transfer their skills and knowledge to
In the classroom, technology can encompass all kinds of tools from low-tech pencil, paper, and chalkboard, to the use of presentation software, or high-tech tablets, online collaboration and conferencing tools, and more. The newest technologies allow us to try things in physical and virtual classrooms that were not possible before. Today, I cannot imagine how difficult it is to teach without technology and how hard it is to learn without it. Technology plays a major part in our lives as students.
In addition, due to the wide developments of technology it also affects the educational system where it leads to the improvement of the teachers and students to become more flexible in learning new ideas or knowledge. The 21st century curriculum also helps to improve the way of testing the student’s needs and performances, give different ways of classroom management and it also improve the ability and skills of the students in dealing with their problems. Technology in the 21st century is not a separate subject to teach therefore technology is a tool to aid education and
Change is occurring in society at a rapid speed. Change may be described as the adoption of an innovation (Carlopio 1998), where the ultimate goal is to improve outcomes through an alteration of practices. The above saying can truly be applied on the modern education system. The society in the twenty first century is increasingly diverse, globalized, and complex and media-saturated. In today’s world of technology, the olden education system with its teacher-centered approach, passive learning, time based, textbook driven, fragmented curriculum, low expectations from the learner does not seem to cater to the learning needs of twenty first century students.
