I learned that Washington as a great man and as a child was chosen to do great things for this country as well to fight for what we have today freedom. Even though he is dead many of us well always remember what great things Washington did for us and how it affected us to this day it was very impactful. When it came to military strategies Washington know exactly what to do and how to win even though he lost more battles then he won. But he learned from those defeats Washington did not let that shut down the engine inside him he kept moving forward and he won the American Revolution. Washington would have not been able to win if all of the defeats he had kept him from going farther than anyone else. All of the articles were pretty easy to understand but the one I thought that was more impactful was “The Lasting Legacy of George Washington” by Donald J. Senese. It talked about that even till this day we remember what he did and the legacy he left behind. Even though we weren’t born during Washington’s time which would’ve been great. He still did things that impacted us now even though it was hundreds of years back. It still helped us to get what we have today freedom George Washington a man of character and faith that lived a great life while doing better things for this nation thank
In the book of His Excellency: George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis, the author introduces Washington, the Father of the United States, in a fresh portrait focused on the characters of Washington. This book is an impressive biography of Washington's remarkable dedication to the United States history. According to the author, George Washington is an omnipresent figure as he was growing up, described as the man in the moon who was aloof and silent. This book focuses on Washington's wartime service which became some of his major contributions to the United States, rather than merely telling the true story of Washington, its main thesis is focusing on analyzing his contributions and how his governorship had affected the American history. Washington's life is divided into three areas in this book.
He also set up the Cabinet which then included only 5 members. He was highly admired, even thought of as God for all the work he had done fighting for and leading the country. Washington did a lot for our first president, even though he did not know how to run a democracy he was active
General Ulysses S. Grant had a great impact on the United States both in his time as a war general and in his time as president. His role in the Civil War was instrumental to the Union victory and the strategies he employed saved many union troops and ended the war quickly. He had many wins, but also many losses and setbacks that were devastating. He learned and adapted through those setbacks and won the war and the American public. The United States would have had a much harder time winning the war and with recovery efforts afterward were it not for General Grant.
George Washington was the man who established the American republic. He led the revolutionary army against the British Empire, he served as the first president, and most importantly he stepped down from power. In an era of brilliant men, Washington was not the deepest thinker. He never wrote a book or even a long essay, unlike George Mason, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Adams.
I thought this was interesting as now in modern governmental policy the legislative government is much larger and the president has become more of a figure head for the county. Washington however was known for participating in several of he duties that now are spit up into several factions of political power. Washington believed that the US needed to begin going westward looking for wealth and land in order to supply the nation deficit and the influx of population. I though this was very interesting as I never though that as far back as Washington there was already an inch to explore and conquer the west. There was a need for new wealth and the west seemed to be the answer.
George Washington led the continental army during the American Revolution in a remarkable win against the British. His excellent work in the war would lead him to become the first president of the United States of America. Washington began his military career during the French and Indian war and didn’t do a great job; his first mission was a complete embarrassment. Washington really came to light during the American Revolution, he was selected to lead the continental army. Washington and his men would define all odds and defeat the British.
Introduction The United States of America would not be the same without the figures behind its liberty and name. Among these big people in the American History is George Washington. During the American Revolutionary War, he was the commander in chief of the Continental Army and became the first US president for two terms (1789 to 1790) and is highly influential for what US is what right now (George Washington, 2008). George Washington was the first president of the America and has numerous contributions to the country from every battle he led down to his leadership when he was the president. Background
George Washington practically held grit in the palm of his hand. While looking grit in the eyes he spat at it’s feet. I mean he brought to light a country with power and ideals never heard of. Who does that? The ferocious battles he fought and the amount of time he spent formulating battle plans.
The author believes that George Washington should be ranked as the best president in American history and that he attained his power through his readiness to give it up. He also believes that Washington was a classical hero because of his moral character and that the first president’s most significant achievement was his voluntary abandonment of power. Wood argues that George Washington possessed moral characteristics that set him apart and made a better American president. However, no specific evidence is provided comparing the president's achievements and Wood makes no strong arguments as to why the actions of Washington were more important than presidents who abolished slavery our recovered America from the Great Depression.
Everyone knows the name George Washington. He wasn’t only our first president, but he was also the commander-in-chief of the war that started it all, the war that gave us our independence from Britain. He set precedents for all of the following presidents- precedents that we still follow today. Multiple
I believe that George Washington did an outstanding job during his time as the leader of the Continental Army. Despite the fact that George Washington did have his failures, his brilliance and numerous successes can't be overlooked. Washington was faced with an incredibly hard task of leading an army that was subpar in almost every aspect in comparison to the British army. This can be seen throughout 1776, “On paper his army numbered between 8,000 and 10,000. In reality only half that number were fit for duty,” (McCullough 79)
He expanded America, built more schools, and built libraries so citizens of the United States could check out books for free. Jefferson drafted the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence, both of which as important documents we know of today. Jefferson's expansion of America was the biggest thing of them all, essently making America an even larger country, and later on in history making America rich and prosperous. Jefferson also had exprience with politics, serving within the many positions in the government before finally becoming president of the United States of America. Unlike previous presidents, Jefferson knew how the government works and made wise decisions, thanks to his expriences within his previous
When the prisoners when told differently, they do not believe what he said because it goes against everything the prisoners were taught. Beliefs are found throughout the education system. The famous proverb, “History is written by the winners,” is ever so true in our schools. Here, in the United States, what do we think about George Washington? To most, the answer
Thirdly we have yet another amazing leader in american history, I am speaking of Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson did great things some of the great things include, served in the Continential Congress, wrote the Decleration of Independence, and purchased the Louisiana Territory. All of these things that Jefferson did had major impacts on America. For example when he wrote the Decleration of Independence he was stating to the King of England that we as the United States no longer will be bullied, Jefferson was saying that it was time for America to become free. This made Jefferson a very strong leader.
