This year, we want you to stay as healthy as possible on a day focused on feasting. It’s true, you can enjoy your Thanksgiving Day, all without erasing your good health! Read on for tips on how to have a healthy Thanksgiving!

It’s easy to mindlessly snack on appetizers all day and to go up for seconds... and thirds…maybe fourths. Try to be mindful of what you eat. A simple, but smart tip is to eat off a small plate. Studies have shown that this can help you eat fewer calories. If you have a large plate, you may be tempted to finish everything on it, even if you are already full. Also, give yourself time before you go up for a second helping. It actually takes about 20 minutes for the brain to send out signals of fullness.
Enjoy! Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, enjoy yourself! Thanksgiving only comes around once a year. It’s likely you’re not eating stuffing, green bean casserole, and mashed potatoes every day, so don’t be stressed about eating these treats! Just remember, it’s all about moderation! Eat the pumpkin pie, but maybe keep it to one slice (we won’t tell on you if you sneak in an extra slice, though).
