My Values of becoming a part of the NJHS I am Lauren Forsyth and a student of Catonsville Middle School. I feel that I should be a part of National Junior Honor Society because of my dedication towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. The following essay will demonstrate how I have dedicated my time towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. As of 2016, I have dedicated myself to 47 hours of service learning and giving back to my community is a very important part of my life. In 6th grade I created a fundraiser to help breast cancer awareness to help find a cure for breast cancer and I had earned 5 service learning hours with two hundred dollars raised in total at my school. The qualities of a great leader is that that person is a very considerate, responsible and prepared person. They are considerate of people 's different ideas, also great leaders are responsible by helping people stay on task, prepared with all the materials needed and are prepared to help out with any conflicts that could happen. Being a member of the National Junior Honor Society will help me be able to grow into a great school and community leader because of being able to help the community, giving back to charities and helping out school activities. Also, being in NJHS will help me expand my knowledge of ways I can give back to the community which is very important for me to learn. Candidate 123 National Junior Honors Society Application Essay March 7th, 2023 I believe I am an eligible candidate for NJHS. National Junior Honor Society, or NJHS, is a program permitted to students that show the following characteristics: Leadership, Service, Scholarship, Citizenship, and a Good and Positive Character. I feel as though throughout my middle school years I have displayed each of these traits a multitude of times.
I feel that I should be considered for the National Honor Society Committee for an abundant number of reasons. Though I cannot list all of the reasons why, due to this paper having to be so short, I will give two phenomenal reasons why I should be elected. First, I stay forward-looking while also being straightforward with my education and work. I always plan ahead while invariably going through with what prevails to be most significant, that of which is my education. I always try hardest to accomplish everything possible to assist me to predominate in school and am always looking for an opportunity to go further on in life.
Honestly, this may surprise you, but honestly, I am sad to leave the middle school. I have had many good memories in my times at the middle school, but I have also had some not so good memories. Even though I dread coming to school everyday, the teachers, the staff members, and the students make it a lot better. The best memories I have had at the middle school deal with Cougar News, Yearbook, and Junior Honor Society.
Being a leader is the ability to motivate and inspire. Like, Odysseus who traveled for 20 years after the Trojan War and tries to return to Ithaca while facing many challenges. Also, like Martin Luther King Jr who gave powerful protests and speeches to persuade and express his ideas to his followers. These two leaders show many qualities that make a good leader. Leadership qualities such as wisdom, self-control, and bravery support a good leader.
A person who is a good leader may have many different qualities. First, if you’re a leader you must accept that not everyone will agree with your stance on issues, and you may not even get credit for all your accomplishments as a leader. A good leader is someone who leads by example, not force. Set a good example for those following you. Instead of forcing them to do things the way you think it should be done, show them that you are doing the right thing and that they are capable of making moral decisions too.

It is an honor to be nominated for the National Honor Society. The fact that I was nominated proves to me that all of my hard work and dedication has not been for nothing. The National Honor Society is known for recognizing students who strive to achieve their best not only in school but in themselves and the community. I believe that I’m one of those students. Based upon my last two year at Matawan Regional I now have a 3.9 GPA and am ranked in the top 20% of my graduating class.
There are several different qualities that make up who I am as a person, but there are four that stand out when it comes to being a National Honor Society member. These include character, leadership, scholarship and service. To begin with, I feel that character is an important quality to possess. In school, I have never been written up for violating code or have served a school detention/suspension and I hope not to in the future.
It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. One reason why I want to be in it is to continue to grow academically with people who have the same goals as me. I want to be encouraged, not discouraged by the people around me. I have led in many ways- inside and outside of school. Last year as a tenth grader, I was class secretary for Class Council.
National Junior Honor Society is the start of everything. This group helps set me up for my years to come. Being in the NJHS it helps me get into the one in high school, which looks really good one college applications. Having national junior honor society for both middle school and high school would give me a better chance to get into a college I really want to get into. I’ve always wanted to be someone who could help or make a change in this world, instead of just trying to get through life easy.
Being a great leader is not dependent on what you have accomplished yourself, it is shown by how you have impacted others' lives. I have come through a never-ending process of education, self-study, and social interactions to become a true leader figure. Being academically successful has been a big priority of mine. I have proved my academic dedication through my 4.0 GPA which is the first step to complete to grow as a bigger leader in the National Honors Society. My whole life, I have challenged myself by taking more advanced classes such as AP courses because I thought being intelligent is one of the keys to helping me become a bigger leader.

The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential.
