“Perfection is annihilation. It paralyses us from working from the heart. Humans by nature are not perfect and imperfections are what makes the world beautiful.”
Mistakes Are Normal
One of the very first things you must reflect on is to accept the fact that mistakes are meant to be made. That is just how humans are programmed and made, perfection is just not part of the secret recipe, if you are perfect then you are not human. It is a fact that we are the ones driving through the journey of our respective lives, but life itself is not perfect, so how can you be? Perfectionism Does perfectionism come with pros and cons, or is it just interpreted as something bad? In the short story, “ Pancakes “ by Joan Bauer, the main character Jill chooses to think the word “ perfectionist “ is offensive. She believes that she isn’t a perfectionist after repeatedly getting called one through her actions but especially at work. Jill is a control freak and her coworkers don’t seem to like how she thinks the world revolves around her. Although, Jill likes the thought that she is the controller of every situation.
There are too many negative human emotions for us to ever be perfect. Hate, greed, jealousy and lust all mar human nature. In addition, perfection is a subjective term. What may be perfection to somebody is not perfection to
I can see Saint Anselm’s idea being well supported, but everyone has their own reality and ideas of what perfectionism really is? Does God have different forms, and personalities
Perfection is only an opinion from a person in great power. In the novel, The Chrysalids by John Wyndham, God is the person in power from what He says in the Bible. The Waknukians believe that they are becoming closer and closer to perfection as the years go by. Some people like David believe the opposite; they are going further away from being perfect. Being perfect is solely based on an opinion, in The Chrysalids, David is placed in a world where being perfect is mandatory and if you are not perfect, great consequences will follow.
All individuals are not born perfect. Every individual has their flaws that has a positive or negative impact to those around them and the society. I agree with Winston Churchill, without failing sometimes people will not be successful. It may happen sometimes, but most people fail again and again until they finally succeed. It is near impossible to always succeed, humans are not perfect we make mistakes and fail, but as long as we keep our enthusiasm up and keep trying then we will eventually have success in most things we pursue in life. Do you think that we are all just born perfect, no we have to experiment with things and often fail in the process. I agree with Winston Churchill, because we are human we live and learn, without failing the first few times you will never learn, and if you keep your enthusiasm high even when you continue to fail, then eventually you will succeed.
In a study conducted by the Department of Psychology at the University of Kent Keynes College, their research argues that pushing for perfection is not “maladaptive” and is not related to the competitive anxiety that athletes experience. Some researchers view perfectionism as a trait that is adaptive that assists the athletes to achieve their goals. No human can be perfect due to human nature. Utopias will never exist for many reasons. All humans are imperfect, any attempt at perfection on earth will fail. Grit is the ability to pursue a task over a long period of time. Being Gritty allows people to have more success throughout their life. To have a Growth Mindset means you have the ability to realize that your not an idiot or a failure, but a person who will realize their mistake and make a goal to fix their mistake so it does not happen again. Ever since the creation of life on earth, humans have tried to achieve one thing and one thing only: perfection. Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as “The condition, state, or quality of being free or as free as possible from all flaws or defects.” In a modern world, the concept of perfection has been distorted and generates an abundance of seemingly negative consequences, ultimately putting into question whether or not perfection is even possible. This striving for perfection is seen in Oryx and Crake, a novel written by Margaret Atwood. Crake’s idealistic personality and intelligence capabilities ultimately led him to replace the human population with a modified version that is free from all the negative aspects of humans.
“Oh, the difference between nearly right and exactly right. ”(H. Jackson Brown, Jr.) What this quote is saying is that perfectionists do struggle with making sure that everything is exactly right. They always focus on the tiniest of details. In the story Pancakes by Joan Bauer, Jill, a waitress at a pancake house, works on the busiest day of the week and gets overwhelmed with all the work she has to do.
“Perfectionism is self-abuse of the highest order.” People who always strive for perfection are the impatient ones who eventually give up, because never is it possible for everything to be pure. This natural disease is portrayed in the short story “Pancakes”, by Joan Bauer, where due to the perfectionism the protagonist Jill had, tragedy was caused. This story basically describes the life of a young girl named Jill, who suffered from the incurable disease OCD, and constantly attempted to make everything ideal. Although wanting all things to become flawless is not always bad, in Jill’s case it was.
Everyone knows that life is not easy all of the time, and everyone will make mistakes. Making mistakes is an inevitable part of being human. However, it is what you choose to do afterwards that matters. Successful people choose to leave it in the past, and to learn from it in the future. It is hard to be successful if all of the focus is on failure.
Making mistakes is an important part of life. We learn from our mistakes. Mistakes are the best lessons of our life. They are something that happens unintentionally and without the knowledge of a human being. The only way mistakes can be avoided is to never do anything.
