They have to see thousands of children daily, and they help to make a change. Being a Child Welfare Worker is a long education process, and there are multitudes of disadvantages, but there are also lots of benefits and advantages to it. In my social work field supervision, I am expected to abide by the NASW Code of Ethics as well as the state of Alabama code of Ethics. In social work field supervision, it gives me the opportunity to apply theory to direct and community practice with my clients. I also get a chance to learn from a veteran or seasoned social workers by observing, practicing, and experiencing the important integration of theoretical knowledge with practice skills while working with diverse populations and communities. This experience also help me build a sense of professional identity that I can only acquire in a practice setting. Field supervision also help to recognize and adhere to the core values and ethical principles of the social work profession.

Child Welfare Services attempts to contribute to a lovelier quality of life for children. According to acf.hhs.gov, “While the national child victim rate decreased from 9.3 child victims per 1,000 children in the population in 2009 to 9.2 in 2011, there was no change between 2011 and 2012” (“Child Welfare Outcomes”, n.d.). So even though the victim rate didn’t steadily decrease, it didn’t increase either. Child Welfare Services uses a residual perspective. With the residual perspective, the social worker, would have to react to the situation, after the fact, instead of already having an outline in place.
