The Mongols got to the wall and wasted no time to get into the city. Once they were in, they drove all of the people out on the the plains to be executed (Document 4). They raided the town so nothing remained. Not even dogs and cats were allowed to live (Document 4). The people on the plains were later killed by decapitation and piled up.

The Great Wall was constructed thousands of years ago. It was built over a span of 2,000 years and measures to be over 5,400 miles long. Over the 2,000 years of its construction, many dynasties would help construct it. Some of them were the Qin and Han dynasties. The wall would act as a barrier to help keep enemy’s out.

There are a lot of costs. They are it took a lot of time and cost a lot of money, there was a lot of mortality, and there was harsh working conditions. It took a lot of time and costed a lot of money. In document E it says, a lot of people died, they were forced to build the wall, and they were forced to move. Also while the people were building the wall, the temperature could get down to 20 or 30 below zero.

This Wall separated East and West Berlin and the Communists did not let anyone from the East leave the country or they would be killed. When the Wall was taken down it gave the people of East Berlin a sense of freedom they have not had in 20 years of being ruled by Communism. This event is also what lead to the reuniting of Germany, which is something the US wanted to do since the end of World War II. Most of the laborers who were taken to build the wall lost their lives due to various reasons. Soldiers from the Qin dynasty “died from hunger, sickness, and extreme heat or cold” and from the Han dynasty, the soldiers mainly died from the heavy fighting with the Xiongnu (document E). A poem written by an unidentified author from the Han dynasty explains the life of the soldiers who were protection the Great Wall (document F). They would fight with the Xiongnu in the north or the wall, and sometimes everyone had to face starvation because of the inability to harvest food. This was caused by peasants forced to join the military in order to keep the wall safe and some dying in the battles with Xiongnu which caused scarcity of peasants (document F).

With the wall comes its high costs like the cost of materials to build it or the money paid to the workers that are building it. When President Trump was doing the presidential campaign, he predicted the border was going to cost about twelve billion dollars, but that turned out to be untrue. Vanda Felbab-Brown herself writes, "... A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) internal report in February put the cost at $21.6 billion, but that may be a major underestimate.”

Many see these offensive since those people basically oppressed African Americans for years and were fighting to keep doing so.
