On December 15th, 1791, the Second Amendment was adopted, allowing people the right to bear arms. The vast amount of mass shootings that have occurred recently lead to a debate on the Second Amendment which is at the top of the media frenzy. When the Second Amendment was created, the society was much different then it is now. The current society has modern guns capable of dishing out six hundred plus bullets a minute. Back then in 1791 when the Amendment was first created, all people could make were muskets firing single shots at a time before reloading which took its time. The world has changed since 1791 due to technological advancement in technology. The already dangerous firearms have had an exponential growth in danger since the Second Amendment was first created.The founding fathers, who created the Second Amendment, couldn't have imagined the magnitude of the Second Amendment. If the founding fathers could see the future and see the weapons the world has today, they would have modified the Second Amendment. As of right now, only 19 states, and Washington, DC have background checks beyond the federal law. However due to the increase of technology along with the rise of violence in modern time, many are beginning to question if we should remove the Amendment, and only grant members within militia organizations access to this Amendments right to bear weapons.
In the Bill of Rights I am using the Second Amendment because that is the right to bear arms.
