What is the nature of humans? Is it good or bad? Anywhere you look, you can see that human nature seems innocent and pure, but the minds of many people are evil and filled with hate. In "Lord of the Flies,” Golding demonstrated that human nature is more sinister than benevolent. Evil human nature is also present in” To Kill a Mockingbird” and in real-life events, such as WW2. These sources show that human nature is truly evil because of its hate, discrimination, and violence. In “Lord of the Flies” Golding indicates that human nature is evil by showing violent thoughts and murder. When the boys form a circle around Robert, vicious thoughts run through Ralph's mind, “The desire to squeeze and hurt was over-mastering’ (Golding, 115). Bob Ewell is full of hate towards people of color even taking it as far as to try and remove them from their homes. After the trial, Bob Ewell confronts Atticus, “Mr. Bob Ewell stopped Atticus on the post office corner, spat in his face, and told him he’d get him if it took the rest of his life’ (Lee, 221). Even though the Ewells won the trial, Bob threatened Atticus for doing his job and was willing to harm him and his family.
