In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the character Daisy consistently deceives the other characters in the novel through how they appear and act. Near the beginning of the novel, Daisy acts consistently angelic, surrounded by bright lights and white. The color white is typically associated with purity and heavenly, but as the novel progresses, it is clearly shown that she is not. This is shown by how Daisy interacts with the people in the lower class.

In F. Scott Fitzgerald novel “The Great Gatsby”, the character George Wilson shoots Gatsby dead. But who is really to blame for his demise? Daisy Buchanan is the real person to blame because she lead gatsby to believe she would leave Tom for him and because she should have admitted to her mistakes. Daisy Buchanan plays her share in the blame for Jay Gatsby’s death because of the way she treated Gatsby. Daisy leads Gatsby on by letting him think she was gonna leave her husband while they run away together “... she realized at last what she was doing - and as though she had never, all along, intended doing anything at all” (132).

Everyone has an American Dream that can be achieved. Each person in the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald had an American Dream. One specific person in the book was Gatsby himself. Throughout the Novel, Gatsby shows his love and passion for Daisy, which he wanted to have with her forever, but Gatsby had a few things that didn’t go his way. Despite the fact he was reunited with Daisy, Gatsby ultimately was not able to achieve the American Dream that he could find love and start a family even though Gatsby received the approval of Daisy saying she doesn’t love Tom.

When you love someone, it causes us to do crazy things that we would have never had agreed to do. “Obsession: an idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person's mind. Love: an intense feeling of deep affection.” Gatsby’s love is all over the place for Daisy... or is it love? The things he has done for her, just to meet once again are extensive; impressing her with his money, buying a house across the bay for her, throwing extravagant parties.

Life has the tendency to display incredible injustice, often leaving good people in the dust and villains rewarded. Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby exemplifies this injustice repeatedly through the novels feud between Jay Gatsby and Tom Buchanan, over a woman by the name of Daisy. As the novel captivates Gatsby’s five year long pursuit of Daisy and Tom’s contrasting mistreatment of her, it becomes apparent who truly deserves her. Jay Gatsby meets Daisy, the woman of his dreams, as a teenager. He immediately becomes enchanted by her, from her voice to her physical appearance to her soul.

“They were both in white, and their dresses were rippling and fluttering as if they had just been blown back in after a short flight around the house” (page 8). Gatsby represents the American Dream by using wealth and his dream, while Daisy represents the American Dream by her purity and by all of the attention that she seems to get. Gatsby seems to be extremely wealthy and although he did not earn all of his money fairly he doesn’t care. He spends his fortune however he pleases.

A childhood innocence is something that is valued by many. Yet, there comes a time when we must let go of these childhood expectations. Jay Gatsby exhibits this quality in a way that makes life better for him. He has a preconceived notion of his life’s hopes. He deeply loves a woman named Daisy Buchanan.

My opinion about Daisy is that I think she is a good person in some ways but in many, she isn’t a good person. In some parts of the book she doesn’t seem like she is a good person but I also think that Daisy is scared. I think that Daisy wanted to leave Tom but she was too scared to leave him and go to Gatsby.

There may be many despicable characters in The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, but Daisy Buchanan is a main character that causes feuds between not only Jay Gatsby and Tom Buchanan, Tom being her husband and Gatsby being the one she falls in love with, but Myrtle Wilson and George Wilson. Daisy is by far the most disappointing character in the book, because she leaves her child to be raised by nannies, which includes her having an affair, ends up killing someone without taking the blame, and she never shows up to Gatsby’s funeral. Daisy might have loved Tom at one point, but she really never wanted to marry him. When Gatsby comes into the picture, she instantly is overwhelmed with Gatsby’s devotions towards her.

I haven’t seen it all afternoon.” , Toms is covering his own skin immediately by saying it wasn’t his and that he wasn’t the one driving it. He wants to get it through George’s head that he wasn’t the one who killed his wife but afterwards he mentions that the car was from a friend of his.

Through Daisy Buchanan thirst for wealth, she sacrifices her happiness. Daisy surrendered the tenderness of love and bliss when she decided to wed Tom Buchanan. She was first in love with Jay Gatsby “ They were so engrossed with each other… the officer looked at Daisy ….

In The Great Gatsby, buy F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jay Gatsby is irrevocably in love with Daisy Buchanan. When he met her before he left for the war, he wanted nothing more than to stay and be with her and make a life for them. But Daisy's flawed mind made her unable to choose between Gatsby and Tom. Daisy should've picked Gatsby, because everything he did, was for her, to make her happy. His love and loyalty towards her is everlasting.

In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan is not presented as a “likeable” character. But a character doesn’t have to be “likeable” to be interesting. Daisy is incredibly fickle and apathetic. But at the same time, she has the same capacity for hope and love that Gatsby had. Even though her voice and diction project confidence and genuine interest, Daisy Buchanan is not a particular good person because of her selfish attitude, her carelessness, and her childishness.

In Chapter 7, during a heated argument with Tom, Gatsby unknowingly reveals Daisy’s true feelings. He states, “She only married you because I was poor and she was tired of waiting for me” (Fitzgerald 130). Although Gatsby expresses that Daisy was waiting for him, she actually grows tired of waiting, which shows her impatience towards him. This is impatience because instead of waiting for someone she claims to love, she decides to stop waiting and actually moves on with her life. In fact, she marries someone else shortly after Gatsby leaves to fight in World War I.

It seems so simple for Daisy to leave Tom and run to Gatsby but when in reality she had more than just her wealth on the line, she and Tom had a child together. The child wasn't brought up much during the novel and Gatsby doesn't put much thought into this his only worry is for Daisy and this reflects some of his selfish behaviors we are faced with throughout the book. Gatsby gives up his old life to create a new one in the same class as Daisy and he expects Daisy to give up her life she's created with Tom this projects how Gatsby does things for only his own personal gain.
