Many people in the world don’t know about what white privilege is, and most of those who know know what it is debate on whether it exist or not. First off white privilege is a term that represents the privileges that comes along with having white skin. With many white people arguing that white privilege doesn 't exist many people of color believe it does. Most people of color believe that white people are always one level ahead of them, because of their privilege. As a white person in my society, I hold copious privileges and forms of power that I have not earned, but has been handed. Though since we are not subject to this intense scrutiny we do not realize that we in turn do this to African Americans, just simply living their daily lives as well. Contrary to popular belief, racism is still well alive in the United States, even in the 21st century. Many attempts have been made to terminate the unwanted social injustice, but its presence is still plainly evident today. Still, there have been many citizens who have become blind to racism. Despite slavery being abolished, and segregation outlawed, racism still exists. A minority in the United States would easily be able to explain in detail the evident facts of racism today, while most white persons will tell you that the country has reached racial equality.

Taking all of the studies, background knowledge, and statistics into consideration, I do believe that there is an unproportionate amount of black men serving time in the criminal justice system.
