Why did Japan and United States go to War? Japan and the United States went to war with each other for reasons like Pearl Harbor and tension between Germany and the middle east. Before Pearl Harbor, Japan wanted to show East Asia that they are strong, because Japan wanted to conquer Asia. Japan was also mad because The United States stopped giving them oil. These reasons eventually led to the United States getting involved, and trying to make World War 2 slowly come to an end. Before all of the commotion, Japan and the United States didn’t have a bond between their governments. During World War 2, Germany was conquering most Europe and destroying the Jewish cities. The United States wanted to stay out of the war as it was going on. Japan on the other hand was trying to conquer East Asia. The United States stopped giving Japan oil because Japan didn’t listen and continued to attack East Asia. Without oil, the Japanese couldn’t fuel their airplanes and ships. …show more content…
The attack was on a sunday, which was when the ships on the United States side would be docked. Japan had dozens of airplanes that attacked by surprise. Once President Roosevelt heard about what happened, he wrote a speech. Then he send it to Congress, and that’s when we declared war to Japan. Because of Japan’s attack, the United States had to get involved with the war and defend themselves. They made all generations of Japanese people go into internment camps, but these camps were different from concentration camps. Although they were in camps, the japanese weren’t treated as bad as the Jewish people in concentration camps during the Holocaust. All they did was to work and they had places to stay in, even though they weren’t so bad. Although they were called internment camps, President Roosevelt called them concentration camps, yet they were treated
EXECUTIVE ORDER 9066 Introduction The Japanese were the first immigrants to come across the Pacific Northwest in 1880s. They came here to America because there was a high demand for immigrant work, the amount of money they paid was so low. Time had pass and the Japanese helped construct the Great Northern, Northern Pacific and more. The Japanese were treated horrible due to their appearance; they cannot buy any land.
Why did the US get involved in World War I? The U.S. declared war on April 6th, 1917, while President Wilson had been attempting to create peace between Germany and Britain; the country had desperately tried to stay neutral with the problems accruing with these two. After the continuous attacks against American ships, and propaganda by German U-boats, Germany kept attempting to get Mexico to declare war on the U.S. and stop American supplies from getting to Britain. For this reason the U.S saw itself being pushed to get involved.
A war between two countries who perceive the world differently is one that ends with nothing but loss. Whether the loss involves money, resources, and or even innocent civilians, each country is affected. Like World War I, the involvement of the U.S was because of an attack. The bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941 steadily worsened the crumbling relationship they had with Japan. When the U.S dropped bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they seemed not to question the consequences of their actions.
So, why did america get involved in world war II? Well, America did not enter the war until december 7th, 1941 when Japanese fighters attacked the U.S. fleet stationed at pearl harbor. But what happened before the war (1933-1939) That made us enter it? When the war started in europe in 1939 the American people were very hesitant to join in on another war.
The Soviet Union feared that Germany attacking from the west and Japan attacking from the east would have led to an ultimate defeat and ended Communism. Roosevelt praised Stalin, the Soviet Union dictator, so he diverted Japan attention from the Soviet Union and cut off Japanese oil supplies and froze their assets. This caused Japan to move southward to conquer smaller Asian countries to obtain more natural resources instead of northward to help the Germans. Japan used these natural resources for fuel and naval vessels so that they could strike back at the United States for cutting of their supplies. If Roosevelt would have left the Soviet Union to defend themselves, Japan would not have conquered other Southern Asian countries and most likely would not have attacked Pearl Harbor.
The Japanese expansion, Japan was growing rapidly. Some countries were taken over by dictators Adolf Hitler. Hitler was the dictator of Germany. The reason the United States stayed neutral in the beginning of the war was because of many reasons.
The US entered the war because the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7, 1941. The world was in the period of time called the Great depression, until the war created new jobs and the need for military supplies. But as the men left to fight in the war, the new jobs that were created needed to be filled again. Women stepped up and helped to fill the jobs. Rations reached every aspect of a family's life, from food, shoes, gas and even cooking fats.
At the time, Japan did not have the necessary natural resources an industrial nation required; therefore, the United States and the western parts of Europe were supplying Japan with these resources: coal, iron, steel, copper, rubber, and petroleum (Higgs). Without these resources, Japan would collapse in a matter of months. In order to sustain their military, they would need coal, iron, steel, and petroleum to supply their military. Japan had to act fast, or else their whole economy would crumble. On the islands that American took away from Japan during the imperialist stages in the late 19th century, such as Hawaii and the Philippians, had these resources.
Rahul Bagga Mr.Campbell US History, Period 0 16 December 2015 Why did Japan attack Pearl Harbor? One day that will always be remembered by America is the date of December 7, 1941, which changed American history forever. December 7, 1941 was the day the Japanese warplanes attacked Pearl Harbor (Hawaii) which stationed many of American ships and airfields. Immediately after the bombings, United States President Franklin Roosevelt declared war on Japan, leading to a direct involvement into World War ll. Japan had many reason to do so but Japan attacked Pearl harbor for three reasons which were that they had a plan for a new world order, United States were expanding their number of naval ships rapidly, and an oil embargo was placed upon Japan
One reason was the fact that the United States began an embargo on Japan, ending the trade of Japanese weapons. This limited Japan from obtaining more resources in their expansion. Another reason was that Japan needed oil to help keep expanding and raise their economy. The U.S. Navy was in their way, by controlling the Philippines, which is why they thought they needed to get rid of them. Lastly, both Japan and the U.S. did not agree on each other’s ways of running government.
As early as 1931, the Japanese started to aggressively acquire land to build their empire. This heightened tensions between the United States and Japan because these imperialistic tendencies were a threat to America. The Japanese had imperialized China, who had an open-door policy with the U.S., threatening economic relations. While imperializing, the Japanese were extremely aggressive and committed many atrocities which violated U.S. principles, and angered many humanitarians. A big issue was also the fact that Japan had started to aid Germany, the Allies’ enemy.
“Administration could now restrict the flow of military supplies into Japan and use this as leverage to force Japan to halt its aggression in China.” (Milestones: 1937–1945 - Office of the Historian) Japan was already in a state of desperation, and this act only made their acrinomy towards the United States grow into a malicious hatred towards the country. However, while Japan was confident they could defeat the United States in battle, they simply couldn’t start a war due to the country’s critical condition. In turn, Japan joined with the Axis Powers in order to combine their forces to eliminate the United States, as well as the rest of the Allied Powers. On September 27th, 1940, Germany, Italy, and Japan signed the Tripartite Pact, which promised, “‘the leadership of Germany and Italy in the establishment of a new order in Europe.’
There are many reasons why World War II started. To put into a big category, the main cause of the war is the first world war. The countries reluctantly signed the Treaty of Versailles, also known as the Peace of Paris, because it did not satisfy any country (History.com, 2009). After World War I, many countries were indebted and economically poor; this is known as the Great Depression.
The attack on Pearl Harbor was in fact a terrorist attack. The Imperial Japanese Navy against the US Naval base. This later led to the US to World War II. (Hanson, V.wnd) After 2 years of their conflict the US begins world war II. The war was belligerent.
The United States and Japan fought in World War II during 1941 to 1945. Japan planned to expand their land and gain resources- which led them to invade China whom was an ally of the U.S. In result, the United States cut off the supply of oil to Japan. On December 7th 1941, Japan’s air force did a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor because that is where their military base is located.
