Apple states in their Form K-10 Report (2017, p.1) they are “committed to bringing the best user experience to its customers through innovative hardware, software and services.” In an Industry where profit margins are low, technologies are constantly evolving and competition is high it is essential that Apple continues to offer innovative and simple products that increases customer experience (Heracleous, 2013) so to maintain a competitive advantage. A variety of tools have been used to evaluate Apple’s external and internal environment, including the PESTEL (Appendix 1), Porter’s Five Forces Analysis (Appendix 2), SWOT (Appendix 3). It is envisaged that the information derived from these tools and the associated analysis will support Apple’s CEO to make strategic decisions that addresses the challenges ahead in the short term, ensuring Apple can be competitive in the long term (Rothaermal, 2017). External Environmental Analysis PESTEL: Apple has a significant presence in the Asian markets in terms of contracted suppliers and through high magnitude of sales. This leaves Apple susceptible to significant political and economic risk both internationally and within the United States. As global economies adjust to political influence, threats of civil unrest and natural global disasters Apple will be affected by exchange rates, unemployment, supply shortages which impact on production costs, and ultimately a downturn in sales (Khan et al. 2015). At the same time Apple
In ‘’Fresh Fruits and Broken Bodies’’ by Seth Holmes, he describes Fresh Fruits as an ‘’ ethnography of suffering’’, and he is convinced that it is important for him to experience the suffering of his Triqui companions in order to write his book. I understand what Holmes is indicated, in order for someone to feel the other individual pain you’ll have to experience it for yourself to have an accurate understanding of their suffering. Numerous of Trqui people has been suffering and facing many difficulties to support themselves or their families. Holmes discusses and showcases the suffering of these people by being with workers, in fact experiencing some their sufferings for example sometimes picking fruits bending down morning till dawn with the migrants and also Holmes also did follow a group of migrants across the border and showing the dreadful experience of facing of heat and the landscape. People need to be aware of their sufferings in the mainstream media migrant workers are seen as deserving their fates, the migrants are portrayed entirely differently, therefore being treated completely unfair.

In her work, Chick Strand moved her camera towards those moments that caught her attention, “when I look at people, when I film them, it's the aesthetic that I notice” she said in an interview with Irena Leimbacher in 1997.
The visual essay “Apples to Oranges” by Claire Ironside presents the reader with a series of infographics displaying the environmental impact of industrially farmed, non-local produce. The author attempts to approach the audience using primarily facts and statistics. Despite these efforts, the essay lacks an explicit statement of the author’s argument, while the infographics used are ambiguous and misleading. The obscure images, lack of logical connections and absence of an explicit claim leave the reader more confused than persuaded. These problems require the reader to infer most of the information and context, which is contradictory to the purpose of a visual medium.
It also identifies the internal and external areas of the business that need improvement and that can prove to be successful. Table 3.1 Strengths: • Apple has an awesome and unique interface where they are ‘head and shoulders’ above the others, giving the Apple Watch a high edge over the new product
Apples to Hammers We can see in this scenario that most of the individuals are only trying to figure out how to benefit from their job’s family friendly policy. Consequently, I believe that the competing virtue involved is the “Sense of justice, honesty, or righteousness in dealing with others (Neher and Sandin, 2007).” The circumstances, in this case, shows the lack of responsibility in each person.
How Sustainable is Apple’s Competitive position Introduction Apple started out simply as a computer company producing Macintosh computers and software, but has since evolved over the years to manufacture other products. It introduced iPods in 2001 for music players, in 2007, it started producing iPhones. Its products are consumer oriented and this has contributed to the success of the company. Apple also views innovation as basis of survival and business development (Yoffie, 2012).
Home Depot’s PEST Analysis There are many macroeconomic factors that impact the performance of an organization. An organization needs to carefully analyze the external macroeconomic factors with the strategic analytical tool called PEST. The PEST tool analyzes the political, economic, social and technological factors of the external environment which may impact with opportunities and threats to the organization. In other words, the PEST analytical tool helps to assess the macroeconomic factors in relation to the organization’s success. In this essay, I am going to identify key external forces such as political, economic, and technological that might influence in the success of Home Depot (HD).
The results were not what was expected. Due to Apple’s goal to produce a new product every 6-12 months and their high expense cost towards R&D, Apple’s gross margin dropped 34%, ultimately ending Scully’s employment with Apple. My suggestion for Scully would have been to spend less on R&D and continue to focus on the education and desktop publishing sectors. To encourage growth, he should have chosen another niche market and slowly worked towards greater market share. Instead he decided to go head-to-head

In my essay I will talk about different business strategies which companies can adopt in case of responding to issues of globalization. First of all I would like to define all the terms that will appear in my essay. Globalization is the global evolution toward economic, financial, trade, and communications integration which implies the opening of regional and nationalistic perspectives to a wide attitude of an interconnected and interdependent world with free transfer of capital, goods, and services across domestic frontiers. Growth strategy is a strategy aimed at winning greater market share, even at the expense of short-term profit. If we consider globalization process according to SWOT analysis, we will obtain its strengths, weaknesses,
Apple Inc. embraces diversification strategy as a means of promoting its viability in the market. Largely, the creation of the three products lines compounds the sources of the company’s income. In fact, the company does not rely on a single source of income because the product design belongs to different categories. This strategy cushions the business from suffering risks of associated with depending on a single business. According Hitt, Ireland, and Hoskisson (2014, p.135), the benefit of handling many products is that when one product fail or does poorly in the market, the business is would shift its attention of the best performing products.
Changes in the economy can affect businesses like Apple, Let’s take a look at the U.S recession that took place in 2008. During this period unemployment was rising and according to the Department of Labour, roughly 8.7 million jobs were lost and the GDP was reduced by 5.1% making it a negative environment to be in especially for Apple Inc. To add, being in a recession like this also has effect on the consumers purchasing Apple products because in result they would have less disposable income to contribute towards Apple’s sales and revenue. (Murse, n.d.) Political
Further, the growth of the world’s economy was also very slow in 2012 and was expected to be same in 2013-14 as obvious. Apple has been affected by a crisis such as the change in American regional sales for the current year was 9% in 2012-13 compared to 50% of 2011-12, in Europe, 4% in comparison to 31% and in greater China 13% in comparison to 78% (Apple INC, 2012). The unemployment rate in U.S was 7.9 during 2012- 13, 4.1 in China and 4.6 in Japan, was one of the significant causes of the downturn in sales growth (Trading Economics, n.d). Euro crisis, U.S fiscal problems and hard landing of large developing countries will likely continue in the coming couple of years leading Apple to more toughen economic situations (IMF, 2013). Moreover, stringing dollars had also source of problem for Apple product prices, transportation cost and profit margins (Apple INC, 2012).
According to Bullen and Rockart (1981), critical success factor is the significant skills, areas, or actions of a company that contributes to the competitive performance that can make it become successful. The main key success factor of Apple is its core competency, technology. The company that owns the advanced technology may get high revenue and a larger market share when imply this technology in its product or service (Roth & Miller, 1992). Apple has used this core competency to develop many highly functional and usable digital device and software which can develop the loyalty of customers to its brand (Laugesen & Yuan, 2010). For example, many electronics products in the market are use Google’s Android system, while Apple uses its own system, iOS in all of its digital devices (Johnson, et al.,
The food industry has throughout history been subject to government regulations at national and local levels, which aim to protect the public health and safety of food, regulate trade unions and prevent mislabeling with regard to formulation and content. Governmental organizations have controlled product entry, the way food has been marketed to consumers and the manufacturing practices of food. The most enduring problem in the food industry has been the case of adulteration, which refers to the cheapening of products by adding impure and substandard ingredients. This has posed a threat of unsafe food in the market and a health risk to consumers. Regulations have therefore been necessary to protect consumers from low quality and harmful products.
