The real world is getting more and more like the world of Fahrenheit 451 every day. People’s minds are pretty much controlled by whoever has power over them. Nowadays people can't even think for themselves, they always need someone else to think for them. Nobody can handle the truth, so everything is sugar coated and reality is just swept aside and forgotten about. Mind control relates to both of these worlds that are getting to be more and more similar as life goes on.
Fahrenheit is a world where everything is made to be right. If something happens to go wrong it is dismissed or hidden so people don't get scared, sad, or mad. For example in Fahrenheit when Montag was running from the Police, the Police found a random man on the side of the street and said “There’s Montag! The search is done!”(page 142) and they killed him just so the people weren't scared about a man on the loose. The same thing occurs in the real world. For example, on (page 35) of Fahrenheit when the old woman said “You can’t ever have my Books” referring to the books she had illegally. She refused to let them take her books so she burned with them. She was not doing the right thing, so she payed the ultimate price. If someone does something that could encourage unwanted behavior they are confronted about it and often punished for it. when people are punished it is used as an example for other people to show that if you do break the law you will be punished also. Similar things happen today, when a criminal is caught it is all over the news, they need to let the public know exactly what will happen to the criminal so far as jail time, and punishments.
