Macbeth Act 2 Scene 2 Language Analysis

Shakespeare, in Act 5, Scene 5 of his play The Tragedy of Macbeth, portrays time as unfeeling. Shakespeare’s purpose is to make the audience ponder the nature of time and denounce ambition as a vain notion of humanity through repetition and personification. In the speech, Macbeth adopts a grim and weary tone in order to convey the meaninglessness of day to day life and the cyclical nature of time to the Elizabethan audience. In Macbeth’s speech in Act 5, Scene 5, Shakespeare uses repetition to create a grim tone which reflects the speech’s message surrounding the cyclical nature of life and time.

In act one scene seven, in the play Macbeth, shakespeare uses diction to reveal Lady macbeth's complex thinking and ruthless ambition of gaining power by having macbeth kill king duncan. Shakespeare demonstrates this through many conversations between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. The diction shakespeare uses also expresses Lady Macbeth’s motivation towards killing king duncan and how it influences Macbeth. Shakespeare also uses metaphors, and persuasive language to depict Lady Macbeth's obsession for power and authority along with Macbeth’s reluctance to agree with Lady Macbeth's plan to kill king Duncan. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s relationship is very strong.

Macbeth is a renowned play about a man dominated by his appetite for power, the same appetite that led to his demise. There have been many adaptations of this acclaimed play and my group’s own adaptation has added to the list. Essentially, for my group’s Macbeth scene adaptation, we decided to focus on changing the diction, setting, and characters of the original play. Diction is important in a piece of writing because it determines how the audience will interpret it. For our Macbeth adaptation we made the decision to greatly change the diction.

Shakespeare is said to have won the approval of his patron, King James as he altered the historic source material of Macbeth, to pander to interests close to King James. King James was extremely fascinated by witches and the supernatural; this fascination is proven through the book he wrote on this subject, Daemonologie. Due to this curiosity we see Shakespeare intentionally captured the supernatural theme by revolving this theme as guise of the crux for entire plot of the play.

Macbeth is the Shakespearean play that features the triumphant uprise and the inevitable downfall of its main character. In this play, Macbeth’s downfall can be considered to be the loss of his moral integrity and this is achieved by ambition, despite this, Lady Macbeth and the witches work through his ambition, furthering to assist his inevitable ruin. Ambition alone is the most significant factor that led to Macbeth’s downfall. The witches are only able to influence his actions through Macbeth’s pre-existing and the three witches see that Macbeth has ambition and uses it to control his action. Ambition alone is displayed throughout the play to be the most significant cause for Macbeth’s downfall.

In the play “Macbeth”, written in 1606 by William Shakespeare and the film “The Lion King” released in 1994, Roger Allers demonstrates in depth that ambition for royalty will lead one to betray his peers. This has vividly been portrayed throughout the film and novel with the use of rhetorical language and by the visible actions of the characters involved. In the play Macbeth, he is constantly thinking about what his life would be like if he was king and creates a plan to execute and replace the king. He successfully completes the execution of King Duncan and will become the leader.

In William Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth, Macbeth truthfully expresses that life is ultimately repetitive and meaningless towards the actions that lead to death. Claiming that life is short and easily extinguished from his reaction towards Lady Macbeth’s apparent suicide. Shakespeare applies rhetorical elements to emphasize Macbeth’s responsiveness to the concept of life and death. Initially, Shakespeare commences with repetition of the word “tomorrow” thrice to accentuate the hopeless future Macbeth perceives.

Act 2, scene 2 is quite an important scene in Macbeth, since it marks the changes of the characters, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Their thoughts and emotions are presented in this particular scene. It shows the different roles that they play and how much they have been influenced by the witches’ prophecies. Lady Macbeth claims to be courageous in the beginning of the scene, by saying ‘that which hath made them drunk made me bold’. She seems to be very keen about this murder and very confident, and the fact that she was alone on stage emphasises it.

In the soliloquy in Act three Scene 1 of Macbeth by Shakespeare, Macbeth talks to himself about the problems of being a king and he is afraid of what might happen to him. Macbeth also talks about how Banquo was his friend and how Banquo is the only person he fears. Macbeth’s predicament in the soliloquy is that he is afraid of losing his crown and that Banquo will get in his way. This is important because Macbeth does not trust anyone anyone because he does not feel safe and is convinced that the wrong thing are actually good. Through the literary devices of metaphor and personification, it will help us demonstrate Macbeth’s predicament.

Macbeth’s soliloquy in Act 5 Scene 5 after hearing about Lady Macbeth’s death acts as a reinstitution of Macbeth’s trace of humanity, he reflects upon his own actions and life itself. Macbeth’s melancholy lamentation over Lady Macbeth’s death reveals the disorientation of time caused by his actions. Although his desires are fulfilled, he realizes in the soliloquy that everything he has done is futile. In the soliloquy, Macbeth brought up the the idea of time.

Lady Macbeth and Macbeth: The Manipulation of the Soft-hearted Disruption and criminality could be seen within the very first lines of the famous play by Shakespeare and towards the end as well. In this old Shakespearean play, Macbeth is a fierce warrior who receives the tittle known as the Thane of Cawdor by emerging victoriously from the battle of the Kingdom of Scotland. After this great battle, Macbeth encounters three unusual ladies who appear to be witches known as the Weird Sisters. The Weird Sisters claim in a prophecy that Macbeth will rule as the future King of Scotland. But, Macbeth begins to feel uneasy when he learns that King Duncan will be passing the throne to his, Malcolm, the Prince of Cumberland.

What is this place? Filled with this foggy, filthy air; am I alive? What are these weird creatures that flow around like naked innocent children with pair of wings? I should be dead, as I remembered that Fife--a non women born child, cuts down my crown and left me with full betrayal. Not loyal, Macduff is not loyal, he cannot act as a brave man as he betrayed me just like I did to Duncan.
