Boom! Boom! Boom! Tick! Boom! Tick ! This short story is about a person who has a deep desire to kill an eldery man. The Theme of the story is the effect of guilt or conscience. In The Tell Tale Heart, Edgar Allan Poe Uses Figurative language, Characterization, and symbolism to illustrate how psychotic twisted the mind of the narrator is. The narrator creates something that keeps the reader imprisoned and in its suspense. Edgar Allan Poe uses this by using figures of speech such as repetition. Poe also uses imagery to characterize the narrator to indicate his senses which also shows his unbalanced mind.
In “The Tell Tale Heart , Edgar Allan Poe uses figurative language. The similes that Poe uses bring a relation between two completely different ideas that creates a vivid image in the mind. “So I opened it you cannot imagine how stealthily, stealthily-until at length a single dim ray like the thread of a spider shot out from the crevice and fell upon the vulture eye”. Characterization is the element which focuses on a character and tells about the character personality . In the story tell tale heart the main character tries to show that he isn´t mad. He begins by telling about a nice old man who hav´nt insulted him, but had the eye of a vulture which haunted him day and night and ¨made his blood run cold.¨ The narrator can be viewed as paranoid of the ¨vulture eye¨ in the story. When the narrator says ¨It was open-wide, wide open and i grew furious as i gazed upon it,¨ shows that he is paranoid. The Narrator in some moments of the story can be as scared and nervous. Based on the story he says ¨ I am nervous: so i am,¨ and ¨So strange a noise as this excited me to uncontrollable terror,¨ this shows the reader his fear to killing the old
