FHIL, better known as Florida Hospital Innovation Lab is a center based on the ideals of human centered design through the creation of an innovation. On Tuesday March 28th, I visited FHIL for the first time and went through the design making process with the five steps consisting of: empathy, reframing, ideate, prototyping, and testing. The experience began as people were split into teams of five people, each with a different challenge they’re trying to solve. My group’s challenge was to develop ways to make Rollins more environmentally sustainable. Through experiencing the FHIL design process, my group decided upon solutions to incentivize Rollins students to be more sustainable such as free meals for students/dorms that recycle regularly. …show more content…

In order to make a business venture based on the values of entrepreneurship, one must solve a problem that people have in order to make their lives better. Furthermore, human centered design is directed related to effectuation as the entrepreneur creates ideas based on the challenges that people struggle with and these challenged are solved through these thinking processes. Using empathy gathering, co-creation, innovation, rapid prototyping and testing allow the entrepreneur to assess the challenge in a step by step process which allows the solution to be precise and clear cut due to the concentration on veracity. The ideas of open mind, open heart, and open will and YES AND were conveyed during the FHIL experience and are quite vivid as they represent the importance of being open to change and acknowledging the fact that there’s always more. I will better aspects of my life by being open to other ideas in designing something and realizing that something’s original form can be altered to be more precise and better. Additionally, by saying YES AND, I can further innovation by drawing upon more ideas in order to get a definite
