¨It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.¨ This meant that a minority of courageous men who plead for freedom can change the laws approved by the majority. Born in 1772, the Boston patriot Samuel Adams is the cousin of John Adams, the second president, and is considered an American hero. He was a statesman, a political philosopher, and a founding father of this nation. Samuel Adams was elected as a Massachusetts legislator in 1774, which increased his popularity and helped him spread his view of independence.

John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Patrick Henry and George Washington are all names that come to mind, when thinking about the founding fathers. The Catholic Declaration of Independence signer Charles Carroll, however, remains obscure when thinking of the founders of the United States. Carroll being less known does not make him less significant. Instead it cause questions to be raised as to what qualified him to be a founding father as well as what was his motivation. Carroll was born on September 17, 1737 in Annapolis, Maryland to Charles Carroll of Annapolis and Elizabeth Brooke.

A year ago, any mention of Secretary of Treasury Alexander Hamilton would make me groan and recall a dry, boring sentence about The Federalist Papers in my AP United States History textbook. Now? I think of a charming, determined ladies’ man with a bit of a temper that can throw-down the best rap the eighteenth century has ever heard. Hamilton, a game-changing, hip-hop inspired musical, brings Ron Chernow’s biography of the titular Founding Father to the Broadway stage.

George Washington was the first president, and he fought in many wars. He is a founding father also, but before the three branches they only had the founding fathers. Because of my love for intellectual hip hop and rap music along with my interest in American history, specifically the constitution, I should be granted the honor to go see Hamilton in Chicago, Illinois. Growing up surrounded with people constantly listening to rap music, I have noticed the illiteracy of some songs and overall artists. One rapper who I have discovered to rap about social issues and important effects goes by the of Logic. Highly comparing to the thoughtful and creative lyrics seen in Logics songs is the soundtrack of Hamilton.

George Washington was a very wise and smart man. he is most commonly seen as the father of the united states. with his thoughts and beliefs of creating a nation that does not have a political party and that believes in the freedom of others. In today's standards, however, If George Washington was able to see the American nation we have become he would be mortified.

He goes back in time and goes over the events that took place then, explaining to the reader how the decisions the leaders made created the ripple effect that it had on the current time period. The founding fathers were smart men who the world looked up to because of their smart decisions, actions, that directed the U.S. to what it is today. But sadly in today’s society most people either have forgotten the things they did for us, or they just do not care. The founding fathers were great men who led this country to victory in war and on the political front. And often early U.S. history is portrayed as moving smoothly for the colonies turning into the a country of its own , but in reality it was just the opposite. George Washington our first president had problems figuring out ways to control the new nation as it progressed under his leadership.

Patrick O’Brien Mr. Natoli Civics and Economics Honors 17 May 2016 When mentioning founding fathers, not many people think of John Adams first, but his unique views had an important impact on our history and culture. Even in his early years John was in a class of his own coming from a humble background to become a prominent lawyer while seeking his passion for education and justice. Later in life, John Adams went on to do even more incredible things as a vocal political figure which led him to become an incredibly successful and influential politician during the development of our country. Throughout his life he was incredibly passionate about his values and ideals that influenced our countries development.

George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe were the first five presidents of the United States and the people who led America to success during a time of great conflict. These presidents helped shape America into what it is today. Without their problems during their presidencies and then solving them, no one knows where America would be. For example, why did President Madison go to war, in 1812, unlike all of the previous and future presidents. Washington wanted to stay neutral during his presidency, so he completely avoided war with foreign countries.

These roles were important at the time, because the men involved eventually would bring us to freedom in America. I believe that the men are portrayed in the texts as being influential and intelligent. The texts portray them as people who have made an impact in our country, as they serve great value in our historical timeline. Though Jefferson and Adams both participated in the writing of the Declaration of Independence, it was unfortunate that they had both died 50 years before the day of the Second Continental Congress was approved in July 4, 1776. John Adams was also close to George Washington, and they would often spend time together as good friends.

Our Founding Fathers were merely men, but they utilized their strengths and conquered their weaknesses to propel themselves into godlike statuses that molded each and every one of them into prominent historical figures. Katori Hall explained this perfectly when she said “We expect our leaders to be godlike. But I feel that when people try to sanctify leadership it puts it out of the realm of regular people. And that’s where the greatest leaders come from – from the people.” Our Founding Fathers harnessed their personal strengths and weaknesses, but this alone wasn’t enough to help them to succeed.
