As was previously stated, the Fourteenth Amendment helps protect individual citizens. The amandment clearly reads “...nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws”. This means every last citizen, no matter who they are or where they come from, receives equal protection under the law. One example of this is the case of Mapp v. Ohio, which was over the Fourth Amendment, aka. unlawful search and seizure. This case determined that any evidence obtained that breached the Fourth Amendment would become unusable.
