The agency that I reached out to for this project is a travel agency in Gainesville, Florida known as World Class Travel. The agency was established on November 1983 by its founder and president Robert Todd who was also the interviewee that I got in touch with for this research project (About WCT, 2009). The market segment that this agency targets is group tours and academic based excursions. This agency specializes in international travel, more specifically international airline booking. World class travel also handles many pleasure travel package programs primarily in Europe, Asia, and South America. They considered the lead travel agency for travel bookings to Peru. It peaked in 2008 generating half a million in Peru trips and travel accommodations alone. The company has valuable connections within the country with businesses and locals. The company began operating at 1.5 million gross revenue in its first year of operations back in 1983 …show more content…
What is becoming more relevant is going to travel agencies not for the average package tours those are being done directly through the internet sites of airline/hotel intermediaries, but instead the travel agency is supply to customers an experience that they are unable to book themselves. By forming connections to unfamiliar local experts travel agencies can make programs that are more tailored, specific, and unique that the current market is truly demanding (Todd, 2018). Robert described previous experiences that back his claim of this market shift. For example, one of the strategies that turned out to be quite profitable for his agency was capitalizing in the Peruvian market and leasing the properties there that allowed for an exclusive product that consumers were very interested in as it provided a unique and sustainable competitive advantage (Todd,
The abolishment of the transatlantic slave trade era in 1808 ushered in a rapid expansion of domestic slave trade in the United States. While the transatlantic slave trade brought the eventual end to slave transportation overseas, it had a highly profitable and adverse effect upon domestic slave trade and transportation. Towns that were once irrelevant such as Montgomery Alabama became central assets for slave transportation because they connected the lower and upper South through the railroads and steam boats. Montgomery Alabama in particular was in the center of the black belt and boasted the highest enslaved black population in 1860 at 23,710. Yet until 2013, Montgomery Alabama failed to acknowledge the injustice that occurred on their very own streets.

Weeksville Heritage Center This semester I had the opportunity to visit the Weeksville Heritage Center located in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The Weeksville Heritage Center is Brooklyn 's largest African-American cultural institution. Weeksville is both a museum and a preserved historical site where free black people formed a thriving community at the height of slavery in the United States. It is historically significant because Weeksville was one of the first free Black communities prior to the Civil War that not only provided a place to call home, but also a sense of community and agency that appeared impossible for both bonds people and free men in the time of slavery.

An unsolved mystery called the Lost Colony of Roanoke all began with a man named John White. As the legend goes, in 1587 John White led a group of colonists from Britain to an English colony on Roanoke Island, and later left to scavenge for more supplies for the colony. Unfortunately, it took him three years to return, due to a major naval war that broke out between England and Spain, from which Queen Elizabeth I called on every available ship to confront the mighty Spanish Armada. When White did return, he found the colony abandoned and dismantled. What evidence has been found, and why is the Lost Colony of Roanoke yet to be found?

Mary was going to translate for us when we talked to Tomichichi about settling down.
Description The Jamestown[1] settlement in the Colony of Virginia was the first permanent English settlement in the Americas. William Kelso says Jamestown "is where the British Empire began ... this was the first colony in the British Empire."[2 ] Established by the Virginia Company of London as "James Fort" on May 4, 1607 (O.S., May 14, 1607 N.S.),[3] and considered permanent after brief abandonment in 1610, it followed several earlier failed attempts, including the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Jamestown served as the capital of the colony for 83 years, from 1616 until 1699.

Atlantic City was once the powerhouse of the east coast raking in tourists, large sums of money, and monopolizing the gambling industry. Nick Paumgarten wrote “The Death and Life of Atlantic City”, which states “The casino closures in Atlantic City have contributed to the loss of nearly 10,000 jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics” (102). Four out of the twelve casinos closed which contributed to 8,000 of those jobs. Three of the remaining casinos are currently facing bankruptcy which contributes to the other 2,000 people left jobless. The question Atlantic City is faced with a matter of needing more gambling or less?
