I am interested in joining the General Assembly because I believe there needs to be a closer link between the student government and the student body. For example, I didn’t know where or when the homecoming dance was. I had to message people individually to find out. Although it was announced at a gathering, It was not posted on any form of social media. Additionally, I would like to try and improve winter ball. Winter ball happens during the part of the year when everyone is tired out from school. Winter ball should be a fun event where students can gather together and eat food and dance. However, this is not reflected in the actuality of what winter ball is. People arrive late and leave early. Music is played, but few people dance. And food …show more content…
One aspect of dances that greatly influence the overall experience is the venue. A good venue could make the dance great, whereas people are less inclined to stay at a poor venue. I am very organized, which would allow me to search for a venue long before the actual dance, visit it, and book it before I am pressed for time. On a similar note, I am very good at managing money and keeping track of spending. This is very important when booking venues. Another aspect of dances that I would like to achieve is having food at these dances. As I mentioned in my application to the General Assembly, food is rarely served at dances. As social chair assistant, I would like to have food at Homecoming and winter ball, in addition to prom. Food does not necessarily have to be a sit down dinner; it might just be a small buffet of sliders and hot pretzels. A third thing I would like to achieve as social chair assistant is having large pep rallies at the beginning of each sports season. People are really engaged during the main pep rally during homecoming, but are not as engaged during the mini pep rallies during the winter and spring season. Having these pep rallies more frequently would allow for the school to come together and share school spirit more often while informing them on how the different sports teams are doing. And finally, I would like to help relieve some of Keegan’s stress as
Established in 1789, the federal government of the United States is the national government of the nation, a republic in North America, consisting of 50 states, one district, Washington, D.C., and several territories. It is composed of three distinct branches known as legislative, executive, and judicial, whose powers are vested by the U.S. Constitution in the Congress, the President, and the federal courts, respectively. In general, Article I of the Constitution gives Congress its powers and limits. Congress is the legislative branch of the government, meaning that they are responsible for law making for the United States.
As I mentioned in my application, I have attended Greek Leadership Retreat, LDI, as well as District Days. These retreats have helped me learn and grasp concepts that have furthered my leadership skills. Retreats are important in developing leaders and teaching the leaders proper communication, working together, as well as sharing ideas amongst others. At each of these retreats, I have listened and taken notes to bring back to our chapter. I have a few ideas on how to better communication, such as a weekly email informing the chapter of any updates and important meetings they should be aware of.
In high school I was a part of the National Honor Society, where I helped plan some of the events. One event we did was the orientation for incoming freshmen. I helped think of activities, such as a scavenger hunt, for the students to learn about the resources they have available to them. I also helped plan a fundraiser for our club. We were able to have Chick-Fil-A sponser our club.
Student Council performs numerous tasks around my school that hopefully improve the school and school spirit. The most important thing Student Council has taught me is: no matter how small, a good deed can go a long way. A handful of students and myself led to the founding of Spanish Club. Sadly Spanish Club isn’t an organization any more after the sponsor moved to a different position. However, my time in Spanish Club was well spent.
When I started high school, the club that excited me the most, was National Honors Society. So, at the first chance I got, in my sophomore year. After being a member for a year, I quickly realized that I wanted to take on a leadership opportunity in the club. So, I took a shot for the stars, and campaigned for being president of Honors Society. Though I had some competition, I put my all into composing a speech, and I won the presidency, and I have been president since.
I also want to make Decatur more spirited by doing more events that inspire the student body, like for example having a winter dance or a tolo, movie nights, field day, field trips, etc. But besides holding events
It brings everyone with a love of theater together. I want to work alongside the other officers to make Thespian Honor Society run smoothly and to create wonderful shows that give the Centereach music department the wonderful reputation that it already
During my years at Peoria Notre Dame HS, cheerleading has been a big part of my life, and something I hope to continue at the University of Dayton. I am an outgoing and social person and it’s easy for me to learn routines quickly. As captain for both the JV and varsity squads, I have put together multiple award winning routines, selecting the music, choreographing and teaching the routine to the squad. Besides the actual cheer routines, I have used my communication skills to keep squad members and their parents informed. I try to set a good example with my own behavior, I love helping to create enthusiasm for cheerleading in young kids, and I have learned a lot from mediating issues within the team.
My freshman year I joined the student government program at my school and I’ve been apart of it ever since. I find student government to be my new soccer. Just like in soccer, every term there is new kids. Some kids walk into the class having never been apart of a leadership class before. In order to prepare
The first reason why I should be in National Junior Honor Society is because of my leadership skills. The first example of my leadership skills are applied to my youth group in the Cecilton Parish. I am the treasurer and help with the Ideas for fundraising. We, as a group held a spaghetti dinner for the church and I managed the money and the setting. Pursuing this further, I actively show leadership in school.
I am a natural leader, and have gained leadership skills from the multiple extracurricular activities (such as Jazz Band, Gender Equality Club, Gay Straight Alliance, Model United Nations, and Craft Club) and used them to my advantage to help lead in everyday situations as well as being appointed or reconized as a leader officially. Notably, I am the lead alto saxophone in Jazz Band II and a student leader of the Gay Straight Alliance, and I am applying for more leadership positions for my Junior year; these future possible leadership positions include a position in Secretariat in Model United Nations, section leader in marching band and president in the Gay Straight Alliance, and I feel that I have a respectable chance in these imminent leadership positions. The quality of leadership is very paramount in the decision of whether to accept students into the National Honor Society, and I feel that I fulfill expectations and go beyond in this particular
In spirit they allow you to dress up and show your school spirit. They have a homecoming football game which is so fun because you have people coming out to support your school. They also all teachers to show their spirit and dress up. They have students running for homecoming king and queen, which is competitive to see who will take over the crown. A lot of people run, but some lose.
The movement of dancing amaze and amuse people all over the world. The performance called Tales, Myths, & Fables was a very interesting concert that basically identified the whole beauty and perspective of dance. While I observed this alluring art of dance I saw many great rhythms. The performance consisted of two acts which had about six to seven dances in each act following an intermission. The concert did have many great ideas and that’s what made it powerful.
Before the game there is the Pep Rally, which is a time to reunite the whole school and cheer for their sport teams, at night there is the game, usually happens friday at night. The game is known to be the main attraction because current students play with alumni. This game brings a huge crowd which only stops cheering when they have one, it also brings out school spirit and a feeling of community because it's the time people forget about their problems and cheer for the same cause, victory. Saturday, the party happens, where the King and Queen are nominated through a vote made earlier during the week and they dance in the middle of everyone.
