George Orwell's Animal Farm

Animal Farm by George Orwell is a political satire/fable. Animal Farm is a book about a farm of animals rebelling against their human farmer. They hope to create a society where they are equal and free. There is no set main character in this book, but the most “important” character is Napoleon. Napoleon is leader of the big group of animals and controls what happens on the farm.

Jones the farmer was the animal’s “leader” on Manor farm until the revolution came and Napoleon the pig took control, he renamed the farm “Animal Farm”, he gets help ruling Animal Farm with another pig; Squealer. The animals did not like being ruled by humans so they started a revolution and kicked all of the humans out. Napoleon wanted to change the farm and make it a better place but he abused the power that was given to him, and formed a dictatorship. There is also a pig named Snowball that wanted to rule

Animal Farm’s Intelligence, Rebellion, & Power The novel Animal Farm, written by George Orwell was one of the most popular books of its time. It uses symbolism in many ways. It’s mainly through the characters Napolean, Boxer, and Squealer.

The author George Orwell captures characteristics in all of the animals and relate them to individuals who corrupt our society today as well as the civilians who has to live with the aftermath of the corruption. Growing up in England during the early 1900’s and being surrounded by the unfair class system really inspired him to compose the short novel “Animal Farm” (Yabroff). George Orwell was a very unique character, he was not afraid to point out the flaws of society with help of his writing. He was born june 25, 1903 in Motihari, India. Orwell 's mother brought him and his sister to england one year after he was born.

Power has been the crux of humankind since its birth. Wherever power is found, corruption is sure to be near. In the Animal Farm, George Orwell expertly captures this corruption of power through the antagonist 's use of propaganda, manipulation, and deceit in order to benefit himself at the expense of his peers. From the start of his reign, Napoleon stressed how vastly superior the pigs intelligence was to that of the rest of the animals.

In George Orwell's Animal Farm, Napoleon, a pig leader that represents Stalin from the Russian Revolution plays a big role in the book as the pig leaders are a superior group among the population of Animal Farm. In the story Napoleon is representing Stalin in Animal Farm as the main leader after Mr.Jones is ran out of the farm and Old Major died, resembling how Stalin took over rising to power in Russia. Napoleon started as a seemingly good leader but that soon changed… Napoleon, just like Stalin started to have problems with citizens of their own community and tried to hurt people and take things away. Both leaders can be shown using their superiority and power to their advantage to get everything they wanted and felt was necessary.

Animal farm is a book written by George Orwell. The book is a reflection of the events of the Russian Revolution and Joseph Stalin’s rise to power. Joseph Stalin is represented by Napoleon and the story follows the events that lead up to Napoleon’s rule over Animal Farm. During the novel, Napoleon uses both psychological and physical fear to control the animals. This is proved by Napoleon using Jones and Snowball as a Physiological fear, to prevent rebellion.

Napoleon initially unifies with the rest of the animal’s, but soon decides to take matters into his own hands and disposes of Snowball and his proposals towards the farm. He takes advantage of the vulnerable animals so he can become in command. Napoleon is clever, brutal, and dictatorial to the animals.

In Animal Farm, a boar named Old Major expresses his desire for no animals to live under human beings. He passes away and three pigs named Snowball, Squealer, and Napoleon decide to carry on his legacy by enforcing the ideas of “animalism.” At first, the farm performs well, but as time passes, the animals find themselves becoming closer to human beings and the difference between the pigs and humans is negligible. Author Marie Macnee calls the novel a deceptively simple animal fable about a barnyard revolt that satirizes the consequences of the Russian Revolution while suggesting why most revolutionary ideals fail (2017). The book was seen as a metaphor or symbol to what was occuring in the Soviet Union at the time.

As the Russian Revolution commenced in the early 1900’s, in which millions of people rebelled, several leaders sought power, with Joseph Stalin taking firm command. Similarly, Animal Farm, a novella written by George Orwell, allegorically represents the downfall of Marx’s manifesto of communism. On Animal Farm, the pigs distinguish themselves by immediately taking control and eventually changing the Commandments of Animalism to benefit only the pigs. Napoleon (Stalin) drives out his rival, a pig named Snowball, leaving him the opportunity to become an egoistic dictator. Manipulating a corrupt society, Squealer, Napoleon’s propagandist, uses rhetoric to control the animals’ rights and thoughts with clever words, in which Boxer's lack of intelligence leads to constant laborious work and later, his death.

A drunk Mr. Jones makes his way to bed, while all the animals gather in the big barn per Old Major’s request. Old Major brings to the other animals’ attention that Man is the cause of their problems. His solution is to get rid of Man which he shares with the other animals before he passes. The other pigs believe that it is their duty to plan for this rebellion. However, one day with no plan the animals rebel because the men have forgotten to feed them once again and they are tired of the oppression.

George Orwell, pseudonym of Eric Arthur Blair, was born on June 25, 1908 in India. According to Biography.com, “Orwell was bit by the writing bug at an early age, reportedly composing his first poem around the age of four.” His talent can be credited to always having been bedridden as a fault to chronic tuberculosis as well as not having a strong bond with his father. Before beginning his career, Orwell worked as a BBC producer and as a propagandist to further increase interest in the war, which lead to his more political novels. Five years after publishing his most notable works Animal Farm alongside Nineteen Eighty-Four, Orwell managed to become one of the most well-known authors to date; to publish a novel that is relevant after many decades

Eric Arthur Blair who later changed his name to George Orwell, was an english american author who was best known for his satirical fiction. Orwell was born in 1903 in Bengal, India. Already, at the age of just four, Orwell had written his first poem, though it wasn’t until he was eleven that he actually had published his first piece of work. Being the son of a British Civil Servant, Orwell moved around a lot, in fact it was just a year after he was born that he would be making his first move. In 1904 Orwell’s mother brought him and his older sister to Henley-on-Thames in England.

In this process, Squealer plays a significant role in comforting the animals and keeping the farm in peace. Squealer does this by persuading the animals through his persuasive speeches. In this novel, George Orwell illustrates the huge influence a speech can have on the society’s mind and on individuals.
