George Orwell wrote the book Animal Farm to provide the reader with an allegory of the Russian Revolution from a farm animal’s point of view. The animals on Farmer Jones’s land banded together to revolt against human-kind, or anything that had two legs. They were successful enough to drive both Farmer Jones and his wife out of their farm house and off of their land, but Farmer Jones is not giving up without a fight. Orwell represented the social classes and influential leaders such as the working class and Joseph Stalin through the characters of Boxer, Napoleon, Squealer, Farmer Jones, Snowball, and the Dogs. In George Orwell’s Animal Farm, the character of Boxer symbolized the proletariat, the working class, and was portrayed as a hard working, strong, and respectable and trustworthy horse.

For example, Napoleon decides that “It was about this time that the pigs suddenly moved into the farmhouse and took up their residence there... It was absolutely necessary, he said, that the pigs, who were the brains of the farm, should have a quiet place to work in. It was also more suited to the dignity of the Leader (for of late he had taken to speaking of Napoleon under the title of "Leader") to live in a house than in a mere sty” (21) meaning that he is starting to take control of the farm. This shows that Napoleon is slowly starting to become the leader of the farmhouse and concludes that he deserves more than the others because of his high position. Furthermore, this also illustrates that the animals do not understand that Napoleon is becoming the thing that he feared most; human.

In this story of Animal Farm, it represents characters and situations that establish a certain time in the Russian Revolution. Also animal farm reflects the Russians and farmer Jones that it represents the Russians Czar. Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin, and Snowball is Leon Trotsky. Boxer serves as an allegory for the Russian who help out to establish the Soviet Union. Animal Farm failed because not all animals are equal.

He worked hard until the day he falls due to lung failure. Instead of treating him, Napoleon sent Boxer to horse slaughter house and lied to the animals that Boxer died in the hospital and even ended his speech with a reminder of Boxer’s two favourite maxims, ’I will work harder’ and’ Comrade Napoleon is always right’. “Animal Farm” by George Orwell, is a story to show how absolute power corrupts, just as Stalin’s power did during the Russian Revolution in 1917. In the allegory “Animal Farm” each character represents a political figure from the days around the Russian Revolution. For example, Joseph Stalin is represented by a pig named Napoleon, Squealer, another pig, represents Stalin’s propaganda department, and the dogs represent the Secret Police (KBG). Using the nine dogs that Napoleon raises (intimidation), Squealer (propaganda), and manipulation, Orwell illustrates how Napoleon was able to gain and maintain control of the farm. The nine dogs that stay by Napoleon at all times are useful for Napoleon to gain and maintain control of the farm because they scare the other animals, intimidating them so that they do not disobey Napoleon.

When you’re a horse you can deal with many tough jobs, when you are an old horse you can deal with old age problems and tough jobs. This is what Boxer had to deal with on Animal Farm and always staying loyal to his comrade Napoleon. In this book George Orwell tries to reflect the events leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917 to animals taking over a farm. Boxer a cart-horse on Animal farm is a loyal laborer, he contributes to the success of the revolution through his work ethic, loyalty and strength. First Boxer contributes to the success of the revolution through his work ethic.

Using the examples of Napoleon and Boxer this essay will discuss the truths of human nature and express the traits of these characters both good and bad including; loyalty and obedience as well as selfishness and greed. Napoleon represents the corrupt political dictators that have been in power before and even after the novel was written. He slowly and subtly put himself into power of the farm and was very manipulative in the way he got there. The animals were always ensured that everything he did was for the good of the farm but as the book goes on Napoleon’s hunger for power is revealed.

Boxer played the role of a hardworking horse, which is backed by his slogans and his desire to wake up earlier and do more work for the better of the farm (Orwell 70). Napoleon is threatened by Boxer since he is reaching the age of retirement and must be paid a pension, which would result in less food for the pigs and unrest in the animals if it wasn’t paid (Orwell 112). The betrayal of Boxer was the point of the story with the most tension, which could be perceived as the climax since it signals the end to animalism and the beginning of the collapse of Animal Farm (Orwell 122). Boxer played the role of the hard-working horse who turned into a threat to Napoleon as he reached old age, and his betrayal was an alternative climax to the story since it was the tipping point of the
