George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He died on December 14, 1799, in Mount Vernon, Virginia. George Washington was the first American president, commander of the Continental Army, president of the Constitutional Convention, and gentleman planter. The presidency of George Washington, began on April 30, 1789, when George Washington was inaugurated as President of the United States, and ended on March 4, 1797. Washington, the first United States president, and took office after the 1788–89 presidential election.

When the French took over Fort Necessity he helped to get the fort back. On June 15, 1775 Washington became commander of the Continental Army.

Unluckily after he was out surveying his land on a wet day he was hit with a throat infection (this same illness stuck down George 7ish decades later) he died when George was only 11 years old. His older half-brother Lawrence became the head of the house.

As the first president of the United States, George Washington’s effect on the United States is undeniable, but that does not mean Washington’s presidency was left without controversy and unsolved issues. After the American Revolution, the primary focus of the government was to lay a foundation for the foreseeable future. Because the Articles of Confederation was too simple and made it nearly impossible for the government to tax the people and generate revenue, Washington was left with an intimidating task. Washington established power through the federal government by creating necessities such as a National Army and a National Bank. Then they moved again to Fredericksburg, Virginia, this is where Washington spent most of his childhood.
