George Washington: A Heroic Person

Another thing that was fairly common back then but we now believe to be wrong is that he was a slaveowner. In my opinion, there are many other American heroes who impacted America more. Andrew Jackson

There are many traits possessed by those called heroes. Whether it is in real life or in fiction, in the past, present, and future every hero desires these character: traits intelligence, bravery, and honesty. “Montag picked a single small volume from the floor. Both Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass are well-known for their achievements that changed many American’s lives. Not only were they abolitionists but they were people who represented freedom and liberty. Abraham Lincoln, president during the Civil War, is an example of a true hero that showed heroism. He has risked and sacrificed his lives to accomplish what he believed was right. Unlike others, Abraham wasn’t only fighting for himself.

George Washington was America’s most essential man. He experienced the loss of his father at a young age, yet he became a successful plantation owner, a major in the Virginia militia, a politician, a general and the first president of the United States of America. Though he experienced many adversities in life he was able to take these experiences and use them to better a country. George Washington created a new government for the United Sates of America in his own image which was moral, fair and responsible because of his own life experiences as a general, politician and entrepreneur. George Washington was born on February 22nd, 1732.

When most people think of a hero, they may think of a fireman, police officer, or a soldier. Although this is true, my definition of a 'hero ' is someone who does something dangerous or brave to save another. Someone who just doesn 't get themselves out of a situation, but they also reach out and try to save the others. There are only a select few people who are brave, compassionate and selfless enough, to spend their days improving the world one act at a time with no regard for personal risk or reward. Frederick Douglass was such a man, and he saved the lives of many slaves.

A hero is somebody who does something remarkable that alters someone's perception of life. A hero, must have the following three attributes; they must be brave, they must have a desire to make a difference, and they must have perseverance. Many people have heard of Andrew Jackson’s contribution to the revolutionary war, but have they ever considered him a hero? Andrew Jackson is one of the most commendable American Heroes Because of his independent education in law, his authoritative presidency, and legacy of Military Advancements. Andrew Jackson personally pursued an education in law.

George Washington completely shows the heroic traits of bravery, cleverness, and determination by leading his men similar to Odysseus in Homer’s The Odyssey. First, Washington has the trait of bravery when he led his troops and he stood in the front towards the oncoming enemies. This trait is similar to Odysseus because he took risks to achieve his goal. For example, Odysseus also has the trait of bravery when he reasoned with the Cyclops and when he stood armed on his ship during the encounter with Scylla.

Even today Alexander Hamilton is remembered as a great person who would do anything for his country. Alexander made a difference in the world by helping America not go broke after all of their debts. He is certainly a hero because ohis courage as a soldier and a Secretary of treasure. Perhaps if people were more like Alexander Hamilton the world would be a better place to live

Although unrelatable and underappreciated in the eyes of modern history, George Washington shows his greatness through his character. Contemporary culture often neglects to recognise Washington’s greatness. Sadly, he has become a figure so far removed from the ideals and lives of modern Americans, that his name often provokes boredom. Nonetheless, his character proved to be perfect for what America needed during his life. His greatness was largely due to chance.

“Take time to deliberate; but when the time for action arrives, stop thinking and go in.” “I feel in the depths of my soul that it is the highest, most sacred, and most irreversible part of my obligation to preserve the union of these states, although it may cost me my life.” And that is Andrew Jackson. Andrew Jackson was a hero back in the day. Andrew Jackson was a hero because he was the “Man of the People”, and was a War Hero (Battle of New Orleans).

But a hero isn’t just defined by their superpowers or what book they come from, it’s the choice to do the right thing even if it means getting hurt in the process. Heroes don’t have to be from a book or a movie franchise. Heroes can be ordinary people thrust into impossible situations or one who sticks their neck out to save yours. Take the nameless French girl from Elie Wiesel’s Night for instance. She slipped him a small piece of bread after Elie got beat by Idek, a guard.

A hero is a man/women who does the right thing at all times and strives to help others succeed as well as him/herself. A leader never cowards away from a challenge and sets a strong precedent for his/ her men. A leader also has the ability to prevail after countless failures. An American hero that demonstrates all of these qualities is Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of The United States. After the civil war, FDR created the Civil Works Program, which helped unemployed war veterans get jobs.

However, heroism can take place in our everyday lives by simple brave actions. A hero has many noble qualities such as courage, humility, patience, being selfless and caring. They will put other people before themselves and make sure others are content. Heros are also intelligent and like to think ahead to plan on a good result.

What makes a hero a hero? There are many traits one can have which would be described heroic. It can be their selflessness, bravery, intelligence, or even courage. In Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible many of these traits are expressed through many different characters. One attribute that really stands out in the play is courage.

George Washington. Abraham Lincoln. Martin Luther King Jr. When you hear these names, what do you think of? To many people, all of these men are heroes and have helped our beloved country become what it is today; Benedict Arnold should be right up there with them.
