Balance of good and evil or decay “Not good versus evil. Only good versus evil is inside of you” (Sterling). By definition the word “evil” means something that is very immoral or has malevolent purpose, while the word “good” is something which is morally right and has intents of the righteousness. The reality is that “good” and “evil” doesn’t exist by their self, those are just names given to desire actions and ideas. The moral is based on principles that doesn’t have a clear origin. Even though, different films show how this two can be defined and divided by different aspects, as society, culture and ideologies. The film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, has a low profile of what really is good and evil, but makes the viewer analyze …show more content…
The film tries to explain how evil can crawl on minds, attracted by all kind of desires. Here the devil is shown as many ways, or that’s the intention. First, it shows how a witch uses power to kill someone, to fulfill anger. Also there’s an interesting character named Madame LaLaurie, a racist and old woman who used the devil by sacrificing and making horrible things to slaves, just to fulfill the desire of maintain her youth. Enchanting Satan itself, this is where the viewer can get confused. Madison Montgomery, a young witch that wanted to brought someone back from the dead as way of pardon. She used a resurrection spell that cast the devil. So it’s good her intention, but it’s good to recur to that kind of magic? Also shows cases of bestiality which is a taboo these days and is considered something very evil. Myrtle Snow is another excellent character to show how the film make evil look good. Snow did some things to another witches seeking for vengeance and make justice. She poked eyes out to make Cordelia see, and she spell tongues to say only the true. Both of those, ended up in a mess, affecting other characters. Also they killed each other, witches between witches. The most important thing about this film is that it shows the darkest of witchcraft, as it includes voodoo and evil magic. The witches doesn’t need anything good at all. The good isn’t as clear as the dark, it is …show more content…
On Coven there’s no balance, almost everything is considered evil parting from the moral part. It’s because almost all characters are blind by specific desires, as Sarah Davies states they choose evil to bend life to their will and got what they really want. On the film Fantastic beasts and where to find them, exist a little balance having weight on the good side, as it show partially things of the daily basis. The balance of good and evil is the main control of the world, when one of those isn’t calibrated almost all the other things
The people of the town thought Hannah the Witch has cast a curse on the townspeople. An angry mob was going after Hannah. Kit just had to warn her. She helped Hannah escape. A couple weeks after that Kit was wrongly accused of being a witch.
Richard Godbeer introduced “the salem witch hunt” in which he addresses various tragic dialogues occurring in Salem during the early modern period. During the course of Puritans, many followed strictly through the concept of catholic religious beliefs leading to apprehension in contact of compulsive behaviour influencing supernatural assumptions. Commonly the society detected this manifestation as witchcraft, overbearing that most poor, widowed and oddly conducted women were generally associated with demonic figures. During the trails mentioned in the authors book, we can sense a shift of emotion overbearing the figure being held in front of the jury and also to the people witnessing this horrific perturbation since most of women at the time,
She tried turning it on Elizabeth. She states that Elizabeth is a witch and is out to get her. Now they have all rumors about who's a witch and that there is witchcraft going on. The courts get involved and suggest that all the people involved in witchcraft need to admit it and, those who do not admit what they have done will be killed. So everybody that are witches confesses some that aren't do as well to save there life.
This shows that people need to do the right thing no matter how hard it is so that events in real life do not get out of hand like they did in the play and like they did in the real Salem Witch
Anger, jealousy, and revenge greatly fuel this villain's wicked intentions. The witch states, “In the princess's fifteenth year, she shall prick herself with a spindle and fall over dead.” Her actions show how the witch has no remorse for the pain and suffering she brings to the characters in the story. Instead of taking her frustration out directly on the king and queen, she takes it out on an innocent child. Characters like this show the whole meaning of what it is to be the devil figure.
The film starts with a group of girls dancing in the woods, who get caught by Reverend Parris, the local minister. Parris’s daughter Betty falls into a “sickness”, which causes rumors of witchcraft to spread through the town. Parris's niece Abigail gets questioned on the events that took place in the forest. She claims that they were doing nothing more than dancing. Abigail then threatens the rest of the girls, and tells them not to speak a word of what happened that night.
She is mean. She shows that she is mean by threatening the lives of the girls if they say anything about witchcraft. “Let either of you breathe a word, or the edge of a word, about the other things, and I will come to you in the black of some terrible night and I will bring a pointy reckoning that will shudder you” (act 1 line 460) She also shows that she is mean when she is coping Mary making the pastors in the court believe that Mary is a witch. “
It reveals how people commit cruel acts out of selfish intentions. In this situation, the girls claim to “come to Heaven’s side” by pointing fingers at others for witchcraft, although they were only doing so to get themselves out of their own trouble. These acts of cruelty reflect upon the evil motives of the perpetrators that become more common after it is done once, as seen through the continuous trials and suspicions, which acts as one of the most major conflicts in the play. Without these cruel accusations, there would be neither plot nor ending. With this same situation, it can be concluded that accusations become more frequent during an interval of time when there are more people accusing.
What Caused the Salem Witch Trial Hysteria of 1692? What caused the Salem Witch Trial hysteria of 1692? The three reasons that caused this were revenge, jealousy, and feeling empowered. Between June 10 and September 22, 1692, 20 people got put to death in Salem for witchcraft.
Another Milestone that effects the way we define the notion of “Good and Evil” is largely based on our religion. Therefore, the way we see right from wrong, heaven and hell, light and darkness, Good vs. Evil and God and the Devil comes from the moral criterion that we attempt to apply to our worldviews. However, given the conspicuous contrasts amongst religions, ranging from Christianity to Islam to Judaism. Many people believe that due to the simple fact of religious diversity, this provides the basis to discredit any assumption of moral truths. Some religions define evil as “the result of human sin” or that “Evil is the result of a spiritual being who opposes the Lord God”
In 1692, people were accused of casting spells, which meant they were siding with the devil in Salem, New England. Many people who lived in the countryside of Salem believed that the Holy Bible were God’s direct words and should be followed precisely. Women were more likely to be accused of casting spells because they were expected to be at home, listen to their husband, and weren’t aloud to be ministers so there were more likely to preach the devil. People believe that women aren’t good enough and men are superior to women, even now in this century. There is still a pay in inequality between the average men and women.
It shows whoever reads it why lying is a sin. A society or puritans, focused on perfection of religion, is shocked by an occurrence of witches. Witches are the Devil’s evildoers, and should be persecuted at once. Abigal, the drama queen of the play, attempts to kill the wife of the man she loves with witchcraft. They are found, but whenever Abigal and the others attending are being accused, they lie, blaming others of being witches.
There are many references in the novel that reflect upon the theme of good vs. evil. A quote that expresses “good” is, “Thus are we ministers of God's own wish. That the world, and men for whom His Son die, will not be given over to monsters, whose very existence would defame Him. He have allowed us to redeem one soul already, and we go out as the old knights of the Cross to redeem more. Like them we shall travel towards the sunrise.
Everyone 's definition of good and evil is different. This definition can change depending on their upbringing, religion and events in their own life. This can be seen in a classroom. Everyone 's definition of good and evil will be different as they were all brought up differently. Without a clear definition of good and evil, we can not consider people as
Evil is a simple word that we learn at a young age and that we understand is bad. However, our youth and innocence prevents us from knowing the weight the word holds. As our understanding of evil develops, we begin to see evil all around us. Although we hold common societal definitions of evil, each person is bound to view evil slightly different from others. Someone might consider alcoholism evil, while others consider it normal: someone might believe racism is evil, while others believe it is natural.
