God’s perfect Creation included night and day, sky and land and sea, the moon and the stars, all the birds and fish and animals, and humankind. Man quickly messed it up and the Fall hit hard. No more was humanity right with God. Based on historical facts found in the bible, as well as physical landmarks that validate the scriptures, the Christian faith is sound. Christians find encouragement knowing the God they worship is relational and personal. Believing that the Word of God is truth, Christians trust that they will receive the gift of eternal life through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. However, there also are areas that cause many to question the Christian faith. The Bible can be very confusing to read and understand, offering contradictory statements and parables that some view as riddles. Creation is another area that propagates much debate with those who take differing views of the beginning of time. Many question whether the resurrection of Jesus Christ actually occurred, offering alternative ideas. Nonetheless, those who claim to be Christians will live their lives in a way that is reflective of Jesus Christ. They will worship and honor God by loving others. Serving others and not expecting to be served is their …show more content…
Introduced were the three main characters that are the focal point in the Christian worldview, including God who is sovereign and a triune God, humanity who began life in God’s good graces, but quickly fell away because of idolatry and bad choices early on, and Jesus, the Savior who came and rescued them. Crucified and then resurrected, Jesus restored humanity’s relationship with God and because of God’s infinite love, through grace, promised them life eternal. Through this, benefits and strengths of the Christian worldview were brought to the forefront along with some challenges that believers face. Finally, this discussion revealed my own beliefs in relationship to the Christian worldview. Attempting to live my life in a Christ-like way on a daily basis, I seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and look forward to meeting Jesus with hope and
Both Christianity and Judaism believe that God has created man in his image and that He has made man to take care of creation (Doc. 5). Christianity also upholds the belief that God was in the beginning and he was the creator of all things. Christians also believe in messengers, or disciples, who were sent to spread the word of God and to “bear witness to the light” (Doc 6.). However, the messenger and God himself was not always accepted. Similar to Islamic faith, the reason for existence for Christians is to please their God, and receive salvation through Jesus Christ so they may live eternally in
When we ask people about their thoughts on how the world was created, the first idea that comes to mind is the story of Genesis. Most people generally assume that there is only one account of creation, the account that portrays God as the sole creator since in the Genesis account he creates heaven, earth, man/woman, and other living things. However, Genesis is not the only face of creation because religious texts from different cultures tell us otherwise. In ancient near east religions, there are two creation myths that give their own different accounts. While some details of the Genesis account are similar to the Enuma Elish of Babylon and the Memphite Theology of Egypt, each account individually brings their own nationalistic pride and personal touch.
Christianity should not be viewed as a perspective, but all truth within itself. However, the comparison leaves the reader with a valuable question to ask themselves about their
This is exactly why Christology is so important in this day and age. The consternation and conjecture behind the author’s central three questions (Who am I?
“One God, One faith.” Cajetan elaborates on this “one faith” with the argument, “Obviously, my own faith does not entail believing that this man wo is receiving the sacrament is her and now justified or that the body of Christ is in a particular host.” Cajetan claims that it is childish to believe that one’s sins are forgiven without some form of charity involved. Cajetan says, “Charity is this friendship between man and God.” Therefore; it is ridiculous to believe that man is saved through faith in God.
When it comes to knowing and learning the religions of the world one must approach them with a critical mind. One cannot simply just believe every religion and know have their own view points. David Van Biema presents his ideas about Christianity and Jesus in “The Gospel Truth?”. Van Biema’s main point is about how “Matthew, Mark, Luke and John… is notoriously unreliable,” . Van Biema writes about how one cannot be completely sure about whether to believe if Jesus actually said what is written in the bible, he continues to say that Jesus may even be an “imaginative theological construct” .
My teenage age years of fornication, idolatry, alcohol consumption, and partying left and His peace and fullness filled me with His love and forgiveness! My life before knowing Jesus Christ was without purpose, full of dissatisfaction and emptiness. When I didn’t knew Christ, I remember when Christian people said to me: "Christ loves you.", but I thought people say it to other people who had serious problems. Indeed, I did had the most serious problem of all: eternal separation from God.
Our worldview is the lens that we make sense of life and should be intentional as we adopt a philosophy of life that is informed by something greater than ourselves as Christ should be our example, according to 1 Peter 2:21 “for [as a believer] you have been called for this purpose, since Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you may follow in His footsteps” (Amplified Version). For this reason, our moral compass when based on a biblical worldview should influence how we approach making decisions as it pertains to business ethics (Porter,2013). To what extent do your personal religious (or non-religious) beliefs about life impact your sense of business ethics and personal decision-making? Every decision that I reach
“Fides ET ratio” which was written in 1998 by Pope St. John Paul the II to all the bishops to demonstrate the relationship between faith and reason. Pope St. John Paul the II wrote the encyclical to support and at the same time help the old Christian philosophy. "Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart the desire to know the truth — in a word, to know himself — so that by knowing and loving God, men and women can come to the fullness of the truth about themselves" (n. 1) With that sentence Pope St. John Paul the II begins the encyclical, Fides et Ratio. Pope St. John Paul II believed that faith and reason has a lot of interconnection to help
People who choose to follow the prophets obtain the blessings that God has promised. Those who reject the gospel and God’s prophets lose those blessings and distance themselves from God. Those who reject the prophets and choose not to follow God are in a condition called apostasy. Apostasy results in division, confusion, and loss of priesthood
Basic Christianity is a crucial foundation that must be deeply entrenched within the hearts and minds of believers. The essential and basic principles aid every Christian by showing and teaching them how great God’s love is for us. In John Stott’s Book, “Basic Christianity,” he reveals insight on what it is to be a Christian. He also dispels many erroneous teachings that have been brought into the Christian community. Stott states in the beginning of his book that many have held the assumption that God sits on His throne, aloof, distant, and unconcerned for our needs and problems (Stott, pg. 17).
The main purpose of these accounts of creation is to share community beliefs and to strengthen their faith in their community beliefs. Despite their differences both creation stories are true to the communities that believe in them and understanding the different belief systems is essential in respecting and appreciating an individual’s belief. In both creation stories there is a belief in the sky world or heaven, which is described as a pleasant place, occupied by different spiritual beings that are special but are not defined to as divine. Both accounts of creation believe in a Great Spirit or God and in the existence of evil. Creation stories are conveying societal opinions and ideas of creation, neither account is better than the other one but it is true to the people who believe in them.

In Christian tradition, the existence of God is central to the religion and the practices and beliefs associated with it. In this tradition, God can be conceived of as an all powerful, immortal and transcendent being who governs and creates the world as it is known. During the Medieval Era Christianity dominated Europe, leading to an extensive amount of philosophical and scholarly works related to God and how to properly conceive of him. As a result, many philosophical topics and theories were brought under examination in an attempt to combine them with Christian ideologies and conceptions of God and the world. One of the many topics brought under consideration was free will.
