February 10, 1763 Treaty of Paris (French and Indian War) The end of the war has come. The seven years war started by the British declaring war against France. The French had been expanding into the Ohio Valley creating conflict amongst the countries. With the signing of the treaty France lost a lot of land.

In the mid-1760’s, several events occurred that would have a lasting impact on both the Americans and the British. Three different acts were implemented that began to spark conflict between the British and the colonists. The three acts were the Sugar Act, the Currency Act, and the Stamp Act. All three of these were implemented by Parliament to benefit them, but the new taxes had a significant negative impact on the colonists. Specifically, the Stamp Act effected the most colonists because everyone, no matter if they were rich or poor, would be impacted.

The way the colonists reacted to the Stamp Acts is that they boycotted British goods. King George III reacted by repealing the Stamp Act and put the Declaratory Act in to that same day. The Declaratory Act is a law that stated that Parliament had the right to tax the colonies

The British were starting to lose control of the American colonies. Taxes and acts enacted changed the relationship between Britain and the American colonists. The Stamp Act and the Townshend Acts both showed that Britain was trying to enforce its power after being lenient with the colonists since the beginning of British rule. The Boston Massacre of 1770 was the point of no return for the colonists in their British relations and led to the American Revolution. The incident inflamed the colonists based on rumors that the affected colonists were shot without provocation, and because the colonists were already fed up with all the acts imposed by the British Parliament.

By 1775 the relationship attitude of the American colonist towards the British led to the American Revolution. Leading up to this event we can trace back to 1763 when British leaders began to try take control of the colonist. The British had set up a policy prohibiting people to settling in the west. Throughout the years the American colonists have changed their attitudes towards the British politically, economically, and socially by the 1775. Politically the British and the colonies were loyal and support to each other between 1700-1763.

But what led to a war between the greatest empire and a new imperfect colony were events like: The French and Indian War of 1754, The Sugar Act of 1764, The Stamp Act of 1765, The Boston Massacre of 1770 and a few other occurrences. Due to years of lack of attention and misuse of powerful from England had forced the American colonists to break away from their motherland.

The relationship between Britain and its American colonies was civil at first but began to strain in the mid-1700’s. In the beginning, Britain ruled colonies with little involvement because they were busy dealing with the French and Indian War among other things. As a result of this, the colonies were typically left in charge of themselves with little interference from British authorities. After years of being left alone, the colonists had developed a feeling of freedom and independence. When the war ended there was a significant change in the relations between England and the colonies.

When the war ended they were wore down and weak. This made the actions of the colonists more effective. Because of the debt, Britain’s economy was not strong. To help pay for the debt, Britain passed the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act put a tax on every printed item they used and required them to buy a government-issued stamp for legal documents and other paper goods.
