Growth mindset is quite the hypocritical idea, it encourages this willingness to put yourself out there and make mistakes, in a system that is structured to punish mistakes. Schools have been based on your marks for many years, your grades are, your ability to succeed are, and even your ability to get awarded for extra curriculars are. That is how it has been for many years, and although lessons in growth mindsets are a great step forward we are not adapting the rest of the system to match. As we say to think outside of the box and risk your learning we are also rolling out more and more standardized tests. Those tests encourage the exact opposite of our main goal which is to allow students a welcoming and safe learning environment.

We want to see students excel mostly in math, language, science, and history and geography, unfortunately in focusing on these we may be limiting many students whose specialties do not lie …show more content…

There were many school tutors that are now on strike leaving students who need extra help at the mercy of their teachers. Teachers may be able to teach ten or even fifteen students with the level of attention needed to help struggling students. Unfortunately class sizes have inflated from 20 students to almost 40 in certain situations. This leaves many students standing in the dust far behind where they need to be as teachers cannot focus in as much now that they have 39 other students to teach. This gap used to be filled by tutors, but now as the tutors are now charging more and free tutoring has been removed many students are falling behind. The students who are lagging behind may eventually get to a point of no return in their education, permanently damaging their chances in life.
