At the time of the order, the nation was devastated by the attack on Pearl Harbor and citizens feared another attack was imminent. Many people believed that the Japanese Americans were still loyal to Japan and would act as spies despite the fact that almost two-thirds of the internees were United States citizens. While moving to the camps, the internees were only allowed to carry bedding, toiletries and clothing with them. They could only bring whatever they could carry themselves. “The truth was, at this point Papa did not know which way to turn. In the government 's eyes a free man now, he sat, like those black slaves you hear about who, when they got word of their freedom at the end of the Civil War, just did not know where else to go or what else to do and ended up back on the plantation, rooted there out of habit or lethargy or fear” (Farewell to Manzanar, ----). Papa was just one victim of injustice. After the Japanese dropped a bomb on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1947, all Japanese Americans were relocated to internment camps. President Roosevelt signed executive order 9066, ordering that all people of Japanese ethnicity because the government viewed them as a threat to national security.

The cultural aspects the Chinese immigrants and Japanese immigrants brought to Hawaii was their martial arts and holiday celebrations. The Chinese immigrants came to Hawaii in the late 1788, where at least 26,000 Chinese worked on Hawaii’s sugar cane plantations. The cultural aspects the Chinese immigrants gave to Hawaii during the plantation era was preserving the art of kung fu and lion dancing. During this time, many of the immigrants lived and worked in Chinatown in Honolulu. The Japanese immigrants came many years after the Chinese arrived.

The Japanese Internment Camps were United States controlled concentration camps during WWII for the accused Japanese-Americans, urged on by the paranoia citizens and ended by the Nisei’s loyalty. The establishment began by the relocation order, also known as Executive Order 9066. All of the American citizens of Japanese descent were relocated in a short period of time and endured the conditions of the war camps. An intern based army on the Allied side and two major court cases made the US reconsidered the Executive Order and shut down the internment camps. When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in December, the citizens of America were terrified and blamed the Japanese-Americans.

These guys felt the blunt force of discrimination during this time. Japanese-Americans were forced into one of ten permanent camps. This was the result of Executive Order 9066 and Pearl Harbor. These camps were given the name internment camps. The point of internment was to test the loyalty of the Japanese-Americans.

Hawaii Home to one of the world’s most active volcanoes, lies the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Stretching 1500 miles across the Pacific Ocean and twice the size of Mount St. Helens these islands are one of the youngest geological formations on the earth. These volcanoes are around 80 million years old and is where paradise meets darkness. Behind the stunning views and beautiful beaches, Hawaii has a storm of volcanoes erupting destroying everything in its path. Some may ask what causes this beautiful place to have such active volcanoes and my answer is complex yet simple.

Roosevelt authorized the internment with Executive order of 9066 on February 19, 1942, which had forced all of the Japanese and Japanese-Americans, regardless of loyalty or citizenship, to evacuate the Internment camps. The order was abrupt causeing Many Japanese to be forced to sell their property and land at a severe loss before departure because no one would be able to take care of the property or land. The Japanese had just the clothese on their back and whatever they had in their pocket, as the effect was instantaneous and the Japanese were not prepared for this Act. The order had not applied to Japaanese/Japnese-Americans in Hawaii because many of the workforce (i.e farmers) were not effected by this order as the Japanese were majority work force for the US. If those japanese were to be sent to the Internment camps, then US economy would take a hit in profits which the US desperately needed for World War II.

According to Dictionary.com, uniqueness means it’s “existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary in type or characteristics, or having no like or equal; unparalleled; incomparable.” Each place is unique in its own way. Some people compare countries alike but really there’s always one thing that distinguishes them from each other. One place on earth that is unique is the state of Hawai’i, from the highest peaks of the mountains to every little grain on the sandy seashores.

The internment of Japanese Americans during WWII was not justified. After Pearl Harbor, many Americans were scared of the Japanese Americans because they could sabotage the U.S. military. To try and solve the fear President Franklin D Roosevelt told the army in Executive order 9066 to relocate all Japanese Americans living on the West Coast. They were relocated to detention centers in the desert. Many of them were in the detention centers for three years.

Furthermore, the United States should do more to compensate the families of those impacted by internment because the recompense provided initially was minimal and should be considered an affront to the memory of the victims. Prior to World War II, the 127,000 Japanese-Americans along America’s west coast (Japanese American Relocation and Internment Camps) were considered just another immigrant group coming to America searching for a better life. However, with the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, this perception soon saw a drastic change. The attack on the US Naval base on December 7th, 1941 left many casualties in its wake.

The human population is on the rise around the world, Hawaii being no exception. Even though Hawaii is a small island, overpopulation was caused by many people who are militaries, tourists, and immigrants. Actually, in 2011 Hawaii’s population density was 214 people per square mile. Also, on Oahu, where the majority of Hawaii residents live, the population density was 1,468 people per square mile. Therefore, Hawaii ranked 13th population density in the U.S. Hawaii’s overpopulation problem leads to the cost of living is high, increasing homelessness and the traffic congestion.

The Attack on Pearl Harbor was December 7, 1941, and the Japanese military did a surprise attack on the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where 2,403 people died. The main reason for this attack was because the United States cut off Japan's access to their oil. 2 months after the attack, President Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066, which started the internment of Japanese Americans. They were taken to internment camps and kept prisoners, and this was to prevent sabotage.

During the 1940's, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor causing America to join the war. America orginally didn't want to join the war because they were trying to recover from the war before. Now that they were attacked, they had no choice but to step out of the side lines and throw on their gloves. The American people lived in fear creating chaos. Propaganda spreading didn't help the situation so over time is worsened to the point where Japanese families were being sent away, being attacked, and being threatened not only by the goverenment but by the American people too.

December 7th of 1941 America would face a horrific scene in their own homeland, the Japanese would attack Pearl Harbor with their Air Force not once but twice. That same day President John F. Kennedy would decide to place the Japanese Americans, living in the country at the time, in internment camps. The civilians would not have a clue what they would be put up against, now they would have to encounter various obstacles to make sure they would be able to survive. “The camps were prisons, with armed soldiers around the perimeters, barbed wire. and controls over every aspect of life”(Chang).

As a result, all Japanese were discriminated in the U.S.A. as biased perceptions were already set in their minds. They were judging the Japanese as the whole, just because the attack of a small part of the
