Overall Hoover would have been a good president at a different time; he tried during his presidency to help the Great Depression.
Herbert Hoover was born on August 10, 1874 in West Branch, Iowa. He was the second child of three children to Jesse Clark Hoover and Hulda Minthorn Hoover (Orange). He always wandered about Iowa’s streams and woods. Hoover was born into a modest home and his father was a blacksmith (Purple). They moved to Oregon and grew up there. He enrolled in Stanford University in 1891 (Pink). He got married to Lou Henry and worked in China for a private corporation as China’s leading engineer (Pink). Hoover was a firm believer in a balanced budget (green). There were six major things that he want to change while he was president, he wanted to change federal spending, agriculture, wage policy, immigration, international trades, and tax policies (Blank). Hoover tried to expand the federal farm board (blank). When Hoover took office he was optimistic view towards the prosperity of America (Herbert Hoover Policies). On October 24, 1929 seven months after he took office the stock market crashed (Orange). Hoover went down in history as the total uncaring chief executive. Hoover presided over economic disaster cared little about his fellow citizens and accepted the great depression as inevitable. Hoover simply be endured regardless of the level of suffering his causes (Yellow). His opponents in congress who he felt were sabotaging his program for their own political gain, unfairly painted him as a callous and cruel president (Pink). Hoover was unaware of the stock market crash (blue). He tried to help but was unsuccessful (Yellow). He was known as the Great Humanitarian (Pink). “Hoover had become a deeply unpopular even reviled-figure across much of the country” (orange). By March 1930, Hoover was told the worst part if the crisis had passed(Blue). In 1931 Hoover changed the way he was trying to stop the depression (blue). In 1932 more problems built up (green). Hoover didn’t appose on helping anyone help (green). Hoover helped pay farms to grow their crops (blank). Hoover took extreme measure to help the economy (orange). President Hoover did try to end the great depression and in fact probably did more to deal with than any preceding president has ever done in time of economic catastrophe (Yellow). Bill Clinton tested everything that Hoover did to help with the depression (purple). Some people thought that Hoover was temperamentally and morally incapable of approaching policies (purple). Hoover was one of the most active intervener in the economy (blank). Hoover was the head of wartime foods administration (blank). Herbert Hoover was unsuccessful to capture Roosevelt's commitment (green). Hoover refused to do absolutely anything to alleviate the incredible suffering all around him for 3 and 1 ½ long years
