A hero is someone who has pride and is committed to putting others before themselves. Heroes risk their own lives to save others. In the book The Outsiders, the greasers are not considered heroes. All three of the boys; Dally, Johnny and Ponyboy are heroes by my definition.

A hero is a man who shows courage. A man who is admired for his achievements and noble qualities. This does not mean a hero has to be strong or tall. Heroes can come in all shapes and sizes. A hero does not have to be someone who leaps into a burning building to save peoples lives, but in S.E Hinton’s The Outsiders, our heroes did. In S.E Hinton’s, The Outsiders, there are abounding visible and obscured heroic traits in the characters. Johnny Cade is profoundly mistreated and loathed by his family, however, he is possibly single-handedly the most heroic person in this book.

When people are children their heroes are usually their parents or their favorite superhero at the time. Many people also base their idea of a hero from what they see on t.v and in movies. Doctors/nurses, the police, firemen, and the armed forces are the everyday heroes that people usually think about when trying to define a hero. Today’s prime examples of heroes in fantasy are The Avengers, Batman Superman, and Wonder Woman.

Life of the Greasers Ponyboy has grown up in a rough society, but when he finally breaks, things get from bad to terrifying in a matter of minutes. Ponyboy is the protagonist of The Outsiders, a book by S.E. Hinton. Ponyboy is considered as a normal boy in his neighborhood, he is part of a gang and lives with his two older brothers. Ponyboy and his gang stick together through everything, allowing them to survive their rough lives. The bond of loyalty between Ponyboy and his gang is vital for survival, shown by the way that the gang responds to the violence between the classes, what Ponyboy and his gang do to survive, and how they help each other survive their social class rivalries.

Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally are all heroes in "The Outsiders," by S. E. Hinton, although Johnny is the greatest hero of them all.

A hero is anyone who makes the right decision to sacrifice for a person in need. For example, without heroes like firemen, wildfires and house fires would spread across the nation, costing lives and loss of worldly possessions. In the novel “The Outsiders” It’s hard trying to live in a world greasers against socs. I believe the author S.E Hinton wanted us to know to stay golden as long as you can. Meaning stay the way you are and don’t change for anyone. In my eyes a hero is a person that risks their lives or does something nice for you. Whether it’s small or big anyone can make a change in the word being a hero.

There are various approaches to describing a hero. There is also an infinite number of individuals who can be defined as heroes. A hero can be a person who demonstrates valor. A hero can be a champion. A hero can even save a life or even mankind.

To me, a hero is someone who gives everything they have to assure the happiness of others and a hero is also someone who gives up his life or her life so someone else could live. ​In all honesty, a hero isn’t really what we think a “hero” is based on definitions and what the movies or even comic books have told us.
