In Suncrest Elementary School, the school that I attend to, every year they would pick a fifth grader who has the best art picture and would be the cover of the year. I was excited to become a fifth grader because I want to be on the cover of the yearbook. It was until the beginning of April was when Mrs. Barnes was announcing that one student would have their art picture in the cover of the yearbook. I was so excited that one of my classmates including me would be chosen to cover of the yearbook and including in the newspaper. We all started working on our picture, but we were told that we had to include the words Suncrest Elementary School and making sure that we are spelling it correctly. We also had to add an eagle because it was our …show more content…
Barnes was announcing the 4th place it turns out to be the boy who I actually thought was going to be the winner. Everybody in my class got really surprised that they were wondering who could be better than him. While she was continuing on she announced that 2nd and 3rd place winner who weren’t in my class. Somehow I thought that I can’t be someone in my class, then so during that moment I didn’t really care who was the winner after. But Mrs. Barnes said that the 1st place winner was in my class after all. We were all getting curious who could’ve been the winner then. Right when she was about to announce the winner, she said “It was hard to pick the first-place winner because everyone did a great job of drawing your picture, but this person had everything that needed to be part of the front cover of the yearbook.” That when Mrs. Barnes announced my name I was so surprised and excited that I was the person whose picture going to be in the front cover of the yearbook. I was so excited during the moment all I wanted to do is go home and tell my parents and my sisters that I won the front cover yearbook. I also told them that I am going to be in the front cover newspaper. After having all of the 5-top winner taking their picture for the newspaper, my dad would go every day to the gas station to see if my picture already came
Starting Tuesday January 17, 2017 – TODAY - all students must park in the upper student parking lot. This includes late arrival and early dismissal students. We are having to do this because students have taken over the front lot and our visitors do not have anywhere to park. If you are parked in the front parking lot today, talk to Officer Pearson as soon as you can.
Today I am honored to be standing here presenting the Conn Smythe trophy to my friend Duncan Keith. The Conn Smythe is awarded to the most valuable player during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I first heard of this tremendous defensemen back in the 2009-10 season where he helped prevail the Chicago Blackhawks to their first Stanley Cup victory since 1961. It seems like Duncan never has a bad season and makes very few mistakes on the ice. The amount of time he puts into this game really shows his dedication and love for hockey.
Counting down the list from number 20 to eventual number 1, my heart raced as they called out the names. It was 8th grade and the rankings were out. This may seem like a rather pretentious achievement but when they called out the name “Andrea Campos” as the valedictorian of Copiague middle school. My heart skipped a beat and tears streamed down my face. Hearing my parents brag about me to their friends made me feel like my accomplishment was their achievement as well.
I thought right as the bell to go home rang. Once I got home, I dozed off, and I didn’t care to wake up until the next morning. When I woke up in the morning, I had my breakfast, packed up for today, chose the nicest outfit I could find [hey, If I’m about to win an award, why not look nice?] and went to school. I ended up winning the student of the year award. I wished I could of thanked Stevie, but he was probably sad about the whippings he’s going to get once he gets home.

Jeremy, Ready I’m going spastic: I really don’t need to drink.. or pot.. I think they calmed me down if anything. I always heard if you type in caps it means you are yelling… I don’t yell much in person because I feel if you want to hear what I have to say listen closely.
At Lake Norman Charter School, our motto is to learn, lead, and serve. The main thing I do is to learn. To learn means to gain or acquire knowledge of or skill in something by study, experience, or being taught. Learning relates to the motto because in order to do the other parts of the motto, you must learn. Students, like myself, live up to the learn part of the motto.
A couple of days later her and Brianna were talking and a paper was handed to Brianna. "What could it be?" Ryen wondered. As Brianna opened up the paper it said... "Congratulations you have been nominated to be Homecoming princess.
High school was an extreme thrill from the first day of my freshman year. As I stepped off the school bus and entered the building, I knew that Brewbaker Technology Magnet High School would be my home for the next four years. BrewTech was ranked the number five school in the state, so I knew I was among the elite and had big shoes to fill. As I began to stroll the halls to locate my class, I was greeted by smiling faces of students and teachers a like. With minor bumps in the road, I completed my freshman year in high school acquiring friends that I still have today.
The theme of “Taking the Plunge” is to accomplish any challenge you have to overcome your fears on your own. In the beginning of the excerpt the narrator nervously rambling about anything to keep from losing nerve .” Do crows really always fly directly?” this distraction allows to continue his ascent up the diving platform. All the while constantly looking for another distraction to offset nerves, all the while continuing to accomplish the task at hand “you can’t see the bolts in this diving platform from the ground, which is good if your objective is to get more people to scale this crazy tower because those bolts are pockmarked and look wounded,”
We both won our individual classes and both ended up in the final drive with each other again. Brynn’s hog was named Grand Champion Hog and my hog ended up being named Reserve Champion Hog. This year was one of our best years, because we had fun doing what we
By the time August returns to school, the whole school has heard of his fairground adventures and everyone treats him like a school legend. On the last day of school there is a graduation ceremony. Principal Tushman gives a heart warming speech before giving out prizes. The last prize he awards is the Henry Ward Beecher medal, which is given to the person “whose strength carries up the most hearts by the attraction of his own.” This is awarded to August, to which the whole school him a standing ovation.
By the end of my speech, 212 underprivileged children around the world would be clenching their stomach and wobbling from garbage dumps to garbage dumps, searching for half- eaten food. 5 children in India would leave school to work in a dilapidated undergarment factory for 14 straight hours, enduring whipping, and pain just for 3 bowls of rice. 3 children in Africa would be dead after being beheaded by heartless invaders. The power to change this situation lies with every one of you present today. Basic necessity such as food, basic education, security are few of many things that underprivileged children lack.
Wake up. Drown in knowledge for the next seven hours. Eat. Homework. Sleep.
As I took it, I didn’t feel confident with a lot of students hunched together, feeling nervous. As the days dragged on, it seemed interminable my results will never come until… my classmate Janet is dashing towards me, barely out of breath. “You did such a good job on the spelling bee. Look, I got a 90 out of a full 400 points. Lucas didn’t make it to the finalists.”
