Hinduism and Buddhism are different because of their beliefs, government, and social structure and more. Both of these religions started in ancient india, although they began at different points in time. Hinduism’s world view is different from Buddhism’s because in Hinduism, people had to believe in Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu, along with other gods and goddesses like when it says in the reading, “unite your soul with Brahman.” In Buddhism however, people were free to believe in as many gods or goddesses as the pleased as long as they believed in The Buddha. Secondly, Hinduism and Buddhism are different because of their government. Hinduism has no one central figure in it’s religion because it was created over time by many powerful people and in Buddhism, the one leader of the religion is The Buddha. The first reason that Hinduism and Buddhism are similar is because of their beliefs. Both of the religions believe in karma, dharma, and reincarnation. They both also believe that “all life is sacred”. The most important thing that these religions think, is that all life is suffering. In the reading it says “that goal is to escape the perpetual cycle of reincarnation” they think that suffering comes with life and therefore reincarnation. The second reason the religions are similar is because of their gods. Both of them have gods. Hinduism has Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu and 300 million more while Buddhism has The Buddha. The third reason that Hinduism and Buddhism are similar is because of their social structure. Reincarnation allows people to move up or down in class if they have good or bad karma. The final reason that Hinduism and Buddhism are similar is because they both began in ancient India and used the Ganges and Indus rivers and places of worship.
