Greek and Aztec gods and goddesses played a major role in the religion of their respected ancient societies. The Greek and Aztec people created their gods in order to explain natural occurrences and phenomenons in the world around them. In Greek culture, the gods looked and acted like humans and felt similar emotions, making them easily relatable, while the Aztec gods were viewed completely differently and were not similar to humans at all. However, Greek gods, including Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades have had a much greater impact on today’s society than the Aztec gods, such as Huitzlopochtli, Tlaloc, and Quetzalcoatl. Greek Mythology had a great influence on modern day sports and the olympics, which were held in honor of the gods in ancient Greece.

It touches every aspect of Greek life like agriculture, social interaction, politics, art and architecture and entertainment. The sanctuaries are a place where these elements manifest in the form of various cult practices held to worship and connect with the divine through life sacrifice, dedication of objects, libation, prayer, consultation of oracles, art, drama, festivals and games. The existence of the sanctuary clearly shows that worship was just not a private experience but a social celebration of the divine. Sanctuaries created a sense of unity among people as they were places where people got together and in the process created an identity
Sacrificing something you love for lent, or fasting during Ramadan can be quite difficult, but it shows your loyalty and love towards your religion. However, imagine sacrificing many things or even killing an animal for your “Gods.” Even though Christianity and Islam are both monotheistic religions, and sacrificing or killing an animal would not be pleasant, it was a ritual in Ancient Greece. In the Ancient Greek world, religion was present in all areas, and it played an important role in their everyday lives. Ancient Greeks worshipped many Gods that had superhuman strengths or ageless beauty but appeared in the human form.
Greek mythology, the teaching and inspiration of ancient Greeks. It was a way for the ancient world to explain the origins, the nature, and the wonders of this world. Stories of the Gods, stories of the heroes were told, and among them, the stories of Ares – the God of war – was born. Though it has been thousands of years since the fall of Greek, there are still people today who believe in the twelve Olympian gods as Christians believe in Jesus, and so the culture and legacy of the Gods remains till today, and have become popular among both adults and children.
There is a strong relationship between mythology and religion, as both are very much faith driven. In the example of Greek mythology, there are many Gods and Goddesses, while in modern Christianity there is only one God, but the premise is still the same. In Christianity, people place their faith in God and let his will guide them throughout the trials and tribulations of their life, the same could be said of mythology, as to again use the Greeks as an example, people placed their faith in the Gods and Goddesses and let their actions be guided as such. The difference in Christianity and mythology in today’s time is that religion is thought to be fact, while mythology is believed to be fiction.
