Even though “share our wealth” is known as a speech it was a program designed to spread the nation's wealth and provide a decent standard of living to all Americans. Long created the program because during that time America was going through recession.

Roosevelt continued to hold to his principals and use his authority to help people in each of the appointed government offices that he held. Roosevelt was incredibly successful and effective because he always took the initiative to fix problems when he identified them. It is safe to speculate that a corrupt police force had been causing some issues for the people of New York. The fact that corruption was still an issue when Roosevelt took the office shows that none of his predecessors had taken the necessary steps to eradicate it. Perhaps they were lazy, scared, or corrupt themselves, but what is the truth is that Roosevelt was none of those things, and he was not afraid to stir the pot and make some heads roll in order to do what must be done.

The renaissance was a period of art, education, and a change in the way humans looked at mankind. How did the renaissance change man 's view of a man? Well that is called humanism. Humanism is a movement that focuses on the beauty and intelligence of an individual. Humanism influenced people during the Renaissance in at least two ways such as education and the way we taught about each other.

Speech Analysis The Great Depression was an extremely traumatizing event in the history of America. Because of this devastating occasion, it caused the social statuses of each american to be divergent. In the speech “Share Our Wealth” by Huey P. Long, the author’s main intention of the address was to influence Americans to spread equality throughout the nation. The speech took place on the 23rd of February, 1934 during the Great Depression.

Likewise, many wealthy people, including big business leaders, came to realize that it was their role in society was to give back. Due to all the negative responses, people such as Andrew Carnegie were huge philanthropists . They stated that because they were wealthy and were better inclined than most, they should be willing to help those at the bottom. Andrew Carnegie’s, Gospel of Wealth, explicitly stated how the wealthy have a moral obligation to give back (Outside Evidence). Other major responses to changes and the impact of big business were responses from the government.

As a demonstration, Hoover explains that “Freedom does not die from frontal attack, It dies because men in power no longer believe in the system based upon liberty…” to explain how the New Deal was manipulating the country, leaving the citizens with no other option but to follow the rules. Indeed, what Roosevelt was trying to do was to create monopolies and to fix prices with his program to control the economy. Demonstrating how freedom was not a high priority presented in the New Deal. In conclusion, Roosevelt took an excessive amount of authority while on his presidency to eliminate the depression.

Valley Forge was a winter camp 18 miles away from Philadelphia, where George Washington took his troops during 1777 and 1778. The Great Depression was a time during 1929 to 1939, It was the longest lasting economic disaster. The two presidents in term during this crisis, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Herbert Hoover, approached this problem in different ways. Hoover’s idea on this was to have private citizens help each others, while Roosevelt believed the government should take care of its people with social programs. Looking at these ideas in more depth we can infer ways our country should go. Herbert Hoover served as president during 1929 to 1933.

During the time of the Progressive Era in 1900s-1920s, the majority of the American believed that the industrialization, immigration, and the urbanization had produced critical social disorders and believes that reforms were needed to be reshaped America. They also believed that it was time to eliminate the problem caused by the corruption in the government and promote the improvement in order to address the social and economic problems. People like Theodore Roosevelt and W.E.B.Du Bois also accepted that change was needed to improve and develop. The major changes were made in social, economic and political reforms. But, was the Progressive Era a success?

In his New Deal, Roosevelt attempted to revise a number of characteristics of society which he perceived to be the least beneficial and could be easily improved upon. One such feature was the highly uneven distribution of wealth in pre-Depression society. In a radio address, Louisiana governor and U.S. Senator Huey Long outlined a plan to mend the, “bad distribution of this nation’s wealth,” which detailed that, “no family shall own more than three hundred times the average family wealth” while, “every family shall have an income equal to at least one third of the average family income in America.” (Doc E) An extremely liberal opponent of the New Deal, Huey Long insisted that the New Deal propose many radical changes to form a new society in the wake of one that led to an economic depression.

Roosevelts success in ending the Bank Crisis showed hope to the nation by looking up to him as a president. He as a President showed many examples of being a successful president in no
