Jackie Robinson's Impact on Lives
Jackie Robinson was not just a prolific athlete but also changed the world around us. He shows us that anyone can do anything by becoming the first ever Professional African American baseball player in the minor leagues. He had a hard life in his childhood and persevered. He showed American Americans could do anything.
Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia. He had a ruff childhood starting with his Dad leaving him when he was an infant. He was the youngest of 5. His parents were sharecroppers in Cairo. One year later he moved to Pasadena, California with his family and his mom's brother. In his time at Pasadena, he joined a street gang called the Peppers. His whole life he got called names and bullied. His motivation was winning and sports played a big role in his life. He was very talented and wanted to show that African Americans can do anything they set their mind to. He got into a lot of trouble as a kid and often got punished. In high school, Jackie participated in basketball, football, baseball, and track. I really see his significance in the sport of baseball. He left an impact by showing that African Americans can do great things in the world. He persevered through all the hate from other white MLB players and teammates. It surprised me the most that he was a rookie at 28. Studying Jackie Robinson has shown me that you must preserve through your obstacles and challenges to get to where you want to be. My thinking has changed by thinking that it is an honor to play all sports knowing the history and challenges that were put in front of other people. These are the questions you may ask about Jackie Robinson. To begin, Jackie Robinson was an African American who played for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was known for breaking the color barrier in baseball. He was important because he stood for equal rights but that's not all the reasons why he was important.
Not only that, but Jackie Robinson was very vocal about the injustices going on. Besides being a professional baseball player, Jackie was also a very proficient basketball player. So Jackie Robinson had a significant impact comparable to that of Martin Luther King Jr. by breaking the color barrier by playing baseball professionally, having a gifted upbringing, and speaking out against discrimination after he retired.
Jackie Robinson, the name may sound familiar. He was the first Black athlete in professional baseball, and had stunning skills. Many were encouraged by him to give a shot at the things that they were good at, even if people were against them. However, he used his influence for other things, too. Jackie Robinson used his influence and support, as well as hard-work and dedication along with his outstanding courage to help change the standard of Black equality and rights in the United States.
Robinson's arrival in the major leagues in 1947 changed the game of baseball and helped to pave the way for greater equality and civil rights. Robinson's impact on American society was felt far beyond the baseball diamond, and his legacy continues to inspire people to this day. Robinson's story is a reminder of the power of perseverance and the importance of fighting for what is right. Branch Rickey was a pioneering figure in the world of baseball, best known for his role in breaking down the color barrier that had long kept African American players out of the major leagues.
In Howie Evans article he says, Jackie also strongly believed in education, people say that after he retired he could mostly be found at colleges and schools talking to the students (1). Even when Jackie stopped playing baseball he could still be found helping and inspiring others to do what they want. Finally, Jackie left an impact on baseball as a whole. In the article “Jackie Robinson” it says that “just as Jackie placed his stamp on baseball, his historic role in baseball had stamped him” and that he had a big impact on the struggle for colored people playing sports (1). This shows that Jackie had an overall effect on baseball and people in the twentieth sentry and it has left an impact on it now too.
Jackie Robinson has impacted many young baseball players today. He had to of had so much courage to be the first African American MLB player in history. To be able to just ignore every bad thing that was said to him, and keep playing aggressively. I think that from him doing that, it gave other African American players the guts to want to be in the MLB or any ordinary team in general. Some kids are nervous about going to their first practice or game, but I think that since Jackie Robinson was the first African American MLB player, it helped some kids to not be as nervous.
Jackie Robinson is known to be one of the most influential people in baseball and in society. He eternally changed the aspect of American history. It was unusual to have a colored person be treated equally as a white person during the time of the 1900s. He was born in Cairo, Georgia in 1919 and later moved to Pasadena, California to pursue a better life. He came from a poor family of sharecroppers in the South and was the youngest of five.
To do that, he had to find someone that could withstand racial discrimination and learn to not fight back when dealt with harsh criticism. Jackie Robinson took an amazing risk when he became the first African-American athlete to play in the major leagues. Robinson has been a huge inspiration to athletes, paving the way for blacks, not just in the game of baseball, as well as being an outspoken activist for the rights of American-Americans. Baseball was segregated at the time, but Jackie took an unbelievable risk, breaking the color barrier in the sport.

Jackie Robinson truly has left an impact as the man who broke the color barrier. Withstanding all hate that was thrown at him and doing it while keeping a smile on his face and inspiring others. As Jackie Robinson once said “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives”. There is no doubt that Jackie Robinson has been one of most impactful baseball players to ever play the sport. For reasons such as pushing himself to reach his goals, facing many hardships, and being the first African American to play in the MLB, he has shown perseverance and been a role model to everyone. The first reason how Jackie Robinson has impacted society is how he worked hard to reach his goals.
Jackie Robinson pushes his way to Freedom. Jackie Robinson was a well-known baseball player that changed the world and the foundation of baseball in April of 1947. He became the first African American to play for the national baseball team and changed the respect of African Americans. He had many accomplishments during his life and faced many challenges throughout.
Jackie Robinson not only made impacts on the field that were monumental, but he made impacts off the field that were equally as important. Jackie helped presidents get elected, get kids off the streets and into the most prestigious schools there is, and most importantly he broke the black color barrier in baseball. Jackie Robinson is one of the most influential people to ever live, he did things that people would dream about, he stood up for what he believed. Jackie Robinson challenged white America’s societal perception of African American at the time. “Robinson won Rookie of the Year in 1947. In later seasons, more African-Americans joined other teams in the Major Leagues, as Robinson continued to excel. His success gained him fans from all over the country.” (Mcbirney 14).
