The Industrial Revolution was a massive movement of society in the late 17th and early 18th century which completely changed the way civilisation worked. Human labor and skill was replaced by the tireless work of machines which allowed for mass production of materials. This destroyed the cottage industry and forced everyone to move to the city to get a job in the factories. The rich got richer and the poor got poorer. During this time period many new machines were invented, including the Spinning Mule. This was invented by Samuel Crompton and massively improved the production of fabrics and cottons, and once again advanced the industrial and economic world. What was the Spinning Mule? After destroying the cottage industry of home spinners, the Spinning Mule did improve and expand other industries. Firstly, it improved the cotton industry. In 1787, cotton goods production was 10 times more than in 1770. Also, the desire for more and more cotton meant that more cotton farms had to be made and maintained. Because of this, a massive slave boom occurred in the Southern States of America which needed more slaves to grow the cotton. The work hours were demanding and difficult, covering six days of the week and lasted sometimes up to 14 to 16 hours. Although it was difficult and dangerous to work in the factory, the Spinning Mule made the process easier and safer due to less machine transitioning and less workers needed. The Spinning Mule also had a great impact on the economy. It massively improved the cotton imports and exports, as mentioned before and, of course, the Spinning Mule exports. All the large cotton industries wanted the Spinning Mule and at the peak of its use, there were about 50,000,000 Spinning Mules in Lancashire itself. Once again, the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. The Spinning Mule also helped lead to the Luddite riots where the people rioted because they wanted well-paid and safe work. John Deere, like many others, revolutionized farming in many respects. In 1837, Deere created the very first steel plow when the Middle-West was being settled. Deere realized that the soil was different than that of the East and noticed that wood plows would continuously break. While experimenting in his shed, he made his first plow out of an old saw blade, testing it on different types of soil. This innovation furthered the advancements of agricultural technology, leading to the faster production of crops.
The Industrial Revolution began in England during the late 1700’s. This movement introduced improved agricultural methods, textile industries, and the export of machine-made goods. Because the agricultural business was finding more efficient ways to manage their products, the working class decreased in this field (Document 7). This extreme drop in numbers led to people whining for a steady, supportive job. Luckily for the thousands of unemployed, the demand for factory workers increased (Document 2).
When they bought the textile mills not only did they improve working conditions, but Owen also set up schools and built housing for the workers at the mill. He also ensured that no child under the age of 10 worked. Prohibiting children to work allowed them to get an education rather
During the beginning of the war, horses and mules were indispensable for the moving of artillery. But as the war progressed, horses and mules became useless, and were extremely weak against the support of the enemy’s machine guns and barbed By 1914 motor vehicles were only used under limited field conditions. The introduction of the cotton gin also aided in the aided in the rapid production of cotton (PIIP 9).
Employers could hire unskilled, common people to make products faster and ultimately cheaper than a skilled craftsmen could. New inventions in manufacturing and industry helped make the South's most important crop cotton, improving trade with Britain tremendously. The steam engine for steamships also cut down time for moving goods from place to place, even fast upriver travel was possible. One of the biggest impact on day to day lives was the improvement of transportation. Besides the steamboat, railroad tracks crossed the country in millions of miles of rails.

The plow horse was a horse that had on horseshoes, a horse collar, and was selectively bred. The horseshoe let the horse work hard without the hooves cracking, while the horse collar acted as a barrier to make the horse pull the heavy load from their chest instead of straining their neck.
