After Henry’s death, Victor prepares for his wedding to Elizabeth, with the wretch’s threat still hanging over the event. After finally marrying Elizabeth, things go from bad to worse. While Victor attempts to defend inn the newlyweds are staying at, the monster sneaks into Victor’s bedroom, making good on his promise and strangling Elizabeth. Victor shoots at the wretch as he flees, but the monster escapes unharmed. After being told of Elizabeth’s death, Alphonse Frankenstein dies from shock. Victor’s poor personal qualities and irresponsibility have led to the complete annihilation of his entire family. Victor chases after the monster and follows him from Geneva to the Mediterranean, then from there all the way to the barren land of Russia,
