Introduction
The impact of modernization, globalization and over competitiveness has been very complex in many dimensions. Human beings have embellished their lives through medical and electronic advances on the one hand and created uncertainty, lethargy and disconnectedness on the other. In the realm of health both physical and mental the most measurable signs have been in terms of escalating hypertension and stress. It is the single most visible global symptom of modernization and imbalanced development (Mohan, 2006).
World Health Organization (2012) reported that Non-communicable diseases are currently responsible for over 60% of global deaths. This burden is one of the major public health challenges faced by all countries, regardless of

The high prevalence of hypertension worldwide has contributed to the present pandemic of cardiovascular disease. World Health Organization South East Asia Region (2013) found that nearly 1.5 million people die due to hypertension making it a leading risk factor for mortality. Hypertension is a term used to describe high blood pressure. Flow of blood is based on the beat of which the heart pumps blood. The pressure of the heart does not stay at the same level at all times. It varies based on activities at a particular point of time. Hypertension occurs as a result to long duration of abnormal pressure of the main arteries. It has been called a silent killer as it is usually without symptoms. Hypertension takes a long time before diagnosed thereby causing major health problems as stroke and other cardiovascular …show more content…
Messerili et al. (2007) defined essential hypertension as a rise in blood pressure of unknown cause that increases risk for cerebral, cardiac, and renal events. Essential hypertension usually clusters with other cardiovascular risk factors such as ageing, being overweight, insulin resistance, diabetes, and hyperlipidaemia. Subtle target-organ damage such as left-ventricular hypertrophy, microalbuminuria, and cognitive dysfunction takes place early in the course of hypertensive cardiovascular disease. Although catastrophic events such as stroke, heart attack, renal failure, and dementia usually happen after long periods of uncontrolled hypertension only. Essential hypertension accounts for 95% of all cases of hypertension. It is a heterogeneous disorder, with different patients having different causal factors that lead to high Blood Pressure. However, there are factors leading to primary hypertension, which are called “Risk factors”. These risk factors could be the result of genetic and environmental factors such as family history of hypertension and health habits like high level of sodium in diet, alcohol consumption, obesity, physical inactivity, age, and psychological stress (Kamide,
Milton Larsen’s aging body will go through many physiologic changes, specifically the loss of elasticity in the connective tissue. Connective tissue affects many of the body organs through the normal aging process. In the case of Milton Larsen, he is diagnosed with hypertension and osteoarthritis, and both diseases can be associated with loss of elasticity in the connective tissue. Hypertension, termed the “silent killer” affects the cardiovascular system in many ways, with a notably, change in the arteries. The arteries loose elasticity causing a decrease
Potential Causes of Death for Anna Garcia Stroke is a potential cause of death for Anna Garcia. Hispanic, thirty-eight year old, Anna Garcia expired due to a stroke. At one point in Anna Garcia's life she was diagnosed with type one diabetes. Due to the potential for high blood glucose levels, diabetes itself is a risk factor for stroke.
In what state is the geographical center of the United States located in? Which ancient Greek is considered to be the father of western medicine? Who was the first woman to be formally trained and to practice as a medical doctor in the US? Which disease, responsible for millions of deaths, was considered eradicated by the WHO in 1980?
High blood pressure normally started in the arteries. There are different stages of high blood pressure, there is stage 1 and stage 2 of high blood pressure. High blood pressure is caused from being overweight, little no exercise, genetics, smoking, family history high blood pressure, salt, alcohol, old age, stress, and the food intake that is the diet. High blood pressure is one of the top that kills African American women each year. High blood pressure mostly affects the ages between 40 through 70 (Kovesdy, Csaba P.; Furth, Susan; Zoccali,
For example, Japan having one of the world’s highest life expectancy rates at 84 and Sierra Leone having one of the world’s lowest low expectancies rates dropping to 46 which is nearly half of Japan’s projected rate! It’s also incredibly telling that the leading causes of death in wealth, developed countries like the United States are non-communicable diseases often resulting from poor lifestyle choices, for instance heart disease and diabetes which are connected to America’s high rates of obesity compared to the rest of the world. In the least developed countries on the other hand, the impoverished people there die mostly from communicable diseases and infections such as respiratory infections, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis. Here in the United States, where although the quality of health care is debatable, very few people would die from the same illnesses because most people have relatively easy access to hospitals, medicines, and vaccines even if they need it far less than those who can’t afford it. I think that technology leading most people to live more sedentary lives is the most crucial cause in these cardiovascular non-communicable diseases which a majority of the people in western countries
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the words “progress”, “advances”, and “growth”? For many people here today, including myself, would view and agree that these terms have a positive meaning because it pertains to the development and improvement of a person, place, or thing. However, the effects of progression can lead to a different direction in the future or have a counter reaction, which can be harmful to our environment and the structure of our society. For an example, the progression of nuclear weapons and war tactics during World War 2 (e.g. The Atomic Bombs), which has caused destruction to Japanese’s homeland, environment, and health. The advances we have made with technology has passed too quickly in a short time period, therefore, causing a harmful effect to mankind and a drastic change in our society’s lifestyle.
The development intensification of economic, political, ecological, social and cultural interconnections across international borders, it is what alludes to the term globalisation (Steger, 2009). Globalization is often argued to the only route to development and human contentment. However, these advances particularly in technology, political integrations and economic growth within and between countries has fragmented or shrunk the aspects of space, time and speed to some extent, at the environmental disbursement (Bozorgmehr, 2010). Additionally, all high-income countries (HICs), middle-income countries (MICs) and low-income countries LICs have unparalleled challenges associated with source, supply, demand, use and distribution of food, water,
Socioeconomic Status Related To Heart Disease The heart is the hardest working muscle in the body, pumping approximately two ounces every day for a lifetime. To keep this small but efficient muscle working, one must understand the importance of heart health. Unfortunately this lack of understanding causes millions of Americans to suffer from heart disease.

To accomplish advancements in health systems, it is essential to strive to eradicate major fatal diseases and to manage poverty. Life expectancies are considered on a global level concerning age, sex, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic class, region as well as the level of education, resulting in alarming statistical data. The objective for enhanced health systems incorporates decreasing the rates of morality. The social gradient greatly contributes to social inequalities around the world. Social conditions, for example, the environment in
As society continues to grow and there becomes more questions and concerns on the subject of Health. The question is posed who is responsible optimal health of those in your country? Is it the responsibility of the individual themselves? Or is it the responsibility on the family level, community, or national level? In order to answer this question, we need to think about the things that contribute and affect overall health.
She had no prior medical diagnosis’s, until approximately two years earlier when she developed new-onset hypertension. Hypertension ran in the patient’s family, however the patient led an active and healthy life style including the participation in marathons and triathlons. When the patient was seen by her primary care physician, it was determined that she had hypertension secondary to a familial linkage. The patient was put on an ace-inhibitor in an attempt to control her increasing blood pressure. The patient was unsuccessfully treated with an ace-inhibitor and a vasodilator and diuretic was added to her treatment
Introduction This essay will reflect on my personal experience, skills, and knowledge gained from my studies and practice of undertaking blood pressure (Bp) whilst completing my professional placement. Bp may be defined as a force of blood against vessel walls in the body, consisting of systolic and diastolic pressure measured in millimeters of mercury. (Waugh and Grant, 2016) Systolic pressure occurs when the hearts left ventricle contracts and forces blood into the aorta causing a heightened atrial pressure, while diastolic pressure refers to complete cardiac diastole, this is when the aortic valve closes and pressure is at its lowest between beats, blood moves into smaller corresponding vessels and the heart rests.
Myocardial Infarction which is another word for Heart-attack. When you have an heart-attack your blood is not getting to your heart's muscle. This means your arteries are clogged. Blood is pumped through your arteries to all of the parts in your body. If you have a heart condition you shouldn't smoke, you should diet and exercise, you should watch your Blood Pressure if you have to take medication for your Blood Pressure make sure you take the prescribed medication.
If you put up with Hypertension, it can be treated. Modest cases of Hypertension can usually be treated through lifestyle changes such as the diet, or increasing the workout levels. Some find dropping weight is all that is needed to lower their high blood
