On April 15 the unsinkable ship went down into the North Atlantic Ocean. I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic by Lauren Tarshis is about the tragedy of the Titanic.
I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic is about a 10 year old boy named George. Living in New York, George and his sister, Phoebe, went to England with their Aunt Daisy. They sail home on the ship of the Titanic. Since their Aunt is wealthy, they get good treatment, a butler, and a room. George is a troublemaker. He journeys around the ship exploring it, and even tells his story of when he almost got attacked by a panther. The book does a great job showing the ship through the eyes of a child. At the ending, the book does leaves clues, that Marco and Aunt Daisy get married, and George and his father build a boat. The book is short, (96 pages in my version) so you may get to the ending quickly. It has a good overall ending, and no, none of the main characters die while it is sinking. George and Enzo have a

The book has an illustration of the lobby of the Titanic, I compared it with a real picture and it was extremely similar. Lauren Tarshis (author of the I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic) included Thomas Andrews, the builder of the ship, into the story. In the back of my version of the book the author says “All the facts about the Titanic are true, but the main characters came from my imagination. George, Phoebe, Aunt Daisy, Marco and Enzo are based on people I learned about while researching the Titanic.” When I tried to find real passengers relating to the main characters I did not find anything though. One part in the book is when George finds out there is a mummy on the ship. The mummy turns out to just be a cat, but people in real life did believe that Princess of Amen-Ra was on the ship, but this theory is untrue. Other than that, the book is very
Dead wake by Eric Larson was a fantastic book. In Larson’s past he has written many books based on historical events. Devil in the white city was great book. H.H Holmes was a very interesting character. This book is based on the Lusitania ship that sailed on May 1, 1915 from the port of New York.
The Titanic, most definitely man’s greatest accomplishment, is made in Belfast, Ireland, where it is then set off into the open ocean, and set for Southampton, England. From there, on April 11, 1912, 2:00 p.m., the Titanic sets sail for New York. All seems well, and it looks for the first time, that man has built the “unsinkable ship.” However, the hopes, lives, ship and all are cut down by an iceberg and now rest at the bottom of the Atlantic. This horrendous fact was shown in both the book and the movie, “A Night to Remember,” along with many other facts and stories.
The Edmund Fitzgerald is a big mystery like the Titanic and just like the Titanic it has lots of theories on how it sank but to pacific there was 4 theories on how it sank on November 10, 1975 on lake Superior. People still don’t know what happened to the Edmund Fitzgerald till this day or what happened to her crew 29 men because no one lived to tell the tale of the Edmund Fitzgerald. There are many theories on how it sank to be exact there was 4 theories anyway. I choose the 4th theory. I believe in this theory because in the text titled the “Theory : 4Three Sisters” it talks about how the Edmund Fitzgerald could have sank by the Three Sisters the Three Sisters is a Lake Superior phenomenon that has two huge waves and later a monster wave as the
The quotes make it more of a tragedy, for example, in the quote “ Of course I should have known he wouldn’t have left without me” This shows the tragedy of his father being gone. This quote also shows how this story is realistic because on the Titanic many people
As an action to show the different identifications of the Titanic, the authors establish tone by using effective word choice. Many people died on the Titanic that day, but instead of remembering the pain, the world romanticizes the ship and the event. People overlook the number of passengers that reached the end of their life rather they romanticize the Titanic and its passengers deaths. Slavitt states, “Not so bad, after all.
Conclusion Even though Margaret Ann’s stay at the Titanic was tragic and the trauma and guilt that it gave her stayed in her memory her whole life, she at least still managed to get what she wanted, to be with her brother once again. The diary of Margaret Ann Brady has helped a lot of people understand the reality of what really happened to the passengers during the sinking of the
Attack at Sea” Writing Contest Bam!! The ship was sinking, but what’s sinking the it? HELP! The author helps the reader empathize by telling people about the people on board the ship and how it ended. The author helps me empathize for the passengers of the Lusitania by telling us by them falling off of the boat and getting hypothermia.
The book “I Survived the Shark Attack” is a thrilling fictional tale about a boy who got attacked by a shark and survived. This tale is based on shark attacks in the summer of 1916. The story takes place in New Jersey in a small city called Elm Hills near the atlantic ocean. Chet Roscow is a friendly, brave, and adventurous 10 year old boy. His family is constantly moving because his father is always chasing new business ideas.
Approximately three hundred men went down with the ship. Many people either drowned while in a lower part of the ship, or was pulled under with the pressure the ship caused when it sank. Everyone who was lucky, or unlucky, enough to make it out and away from the ship banned together to try and survive. “Water, water, everywhere, and all the boards did shrink; water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink.”
Titanic 1500 people died on the catastrophic night of April 14th, riding the Titanic. The ship had around 2240 people on it and over half perished. Captain Edward Smith was to drive the ship from England to New York. Smith went to school as a child, but dropped out at age 12 to be a sailor. He had sailed a lot of cargo ships, but not many passenger ships.
According to “A History In Numbers” by Dave Fowler, only 706 people aboard the Titanic survived the terrible accident, while the other 1,529 were taken down with the ship. Many people believed the iceberg was to blame for the sinking of the ship; however, the problems surrounding the ship began long before the ship set sail. “R.M.S Titanic” by Hanson W. Baldwin revealed that the crew was so confident in the ship’s inability to sink that they did not even pack enough lifeboats in case of an emergency. Furthermore, the captain and crew neglected to practice many safety drills that could have possibly saved many lives. The Titanic was doomed once the captain and crew set foot on the ship because of the arrogant aura they carried which resulted in the confusion and lack of resources that were obtainable during the sinking to many of the passengers including Master Harold Victor Goodwin and his family.
Who Was To Blame For The Titanic Disaster? The Titanic was famous because it is more than three football pitches long and weighing about 46,000 tons. The titanic was taller than a 17-story building. It was known to be unsinkable. Inside the Titanic there was a gymnasium, a Parisian café and a tennis court.

Titanic was deemed unsinkable because it had 15 watertight bulkheads and a double bottom. The problem with this though was that “the watertight compartment design contained a flaw that was a critical factor in Titanic’s sinking: While the individual bulkheads were indeed watertight, the walls separating the bulkheads extended only a few feet above the waterline, so water could pour from one compartment into another, especially if the ship began to list or pitch forward.” Many people say that the ship was doomed from the start. On April 10th 1912, The Titanic set sail for Cherbourg, France and then to Queenstown, Ireland.
I still remember July 31, 2015 like it was yesterday. I was lying in bed at five in the morning, contemplating the day I had ahead of me on a warm summer morning. Hearing a knock on my bedroom door, my mom walked in and whispered that she was leaving for the hospital with my dad. All I could manage to do was hug her. My mom was scheduled to be induced to have my youngest brother, Andrew.
