That night we were able to receive enough donations from family and friends to pay the bond and it was turned in and the guards told us my dad would be out the next morning so we waited. Yet an hour later a “Hold for immigration” notice popped next to my father’s name and they said they couldn’t do anything about it and the money would not be returned. My dad had been put on hold for immigration and at that moment I knew I might never see him again; I knew the chances of him having a normal life by our sides were very slim. I processed the information but it truly did not hit me until I was sitting there staring into the glass with my father staring right back at me. He was so close yet so far away. She lost an immense amount of weight within those months. To make matters worse she had an accident at work causing her to no longer be able to hold her job . I remember thinking this was a sign from God that we were being punished. I remember praying night and day for my father’s return. This downfall did not only cause emotional pains but it also created an economic downfall in which I had no idea what to do. My sister, whom was simply a freshman in college became our sole provider and I remember knowing the only way we were surviving was through food stamps, Medicaid, my sisters full time job, and the help of those around us. At the age of eighteen she stepped up to the plate and made sure she made enough to pay bills. She constantly worked selflessly because of necessity. My sister served as an inspiration to me. I believe it was then that we realized that we were capable of a vast amount of things independently from my father when we had always believed it was not possible. Seeing my sister and mother work independently and not knowing the way life would play out quickly became my drive. I took this downfall and this sadness and I invested it into school. I needed to be the best I could be so my father would be able to open a report card mailed to him for Christmas with straight A’s. I had to work triple the amount of what I was already doing. It was this moment in life that I knew that no factor in life would hold me back from becoming educated and independent in order to be able to give back to my family. It was then I devoted myself to education, track, and

Lady Liberty symbolizes freedom and hope to immigrants who come to the United States. She is the Golden Door to freedom. Her torch symbolizes safety. The message at her feet read “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore” (Redstone, n.d.). When immigration first began, the United States offered the golden door to immigrants wanting to relocate here by offering them freedom, safety, and the hope of beginning a new life to support their families (Greenstone & Looney, n.d.).
My parents were both undocumented immigrants from small villages in Mexico, and the experiences that are fundamental to me are those from my childhood, which I experienced from the perspective of a child of undocumented immigrants. I remember the fear that I felt whenever I saw strangers, because I strongly believed that each time a stranger was near my parents would somehow be sent away. I longed to communicate, but it felt as though I was burdened with a greater awareness of who I was and what situation I was born into. I feared that once I spoke, I would be labeled an outsider. My first language was Spanish, and I vividly recall running to my neighbors and having a conversation only speaking gibberish in the hopes of communicating my thoughts
June 15, 2012. It was a frantic Friday afternoon just after my lunch hour had just ended when I got a call from my friend Giovi. “Have you heard the news?” , she said in a nasally voice. I asked what was wrong as she sounded like she was crying.
Immigrant Argument Jaewoo Ahn About 102 million people in the U.S. are jobless and the U.S. government is desperate to decrease the jobless percentage. When the U.S. cannot even employ their own people, bringing more people into the U.S. would just increase the competition for jobs. David has a wife and two children. To feed his family, he needs to get a job. The immigrants coming in from all over the world are causing higher competition than ever before.
There is a story behind my skin. Most see me and see a young Mexican girl, but I am so much more. Behind my last name, there is my family. A family of migrant workers, immigrants, working class citizens and hard work. I am Aaliyah Olvera, and to me, being Hispanic means being strong.
Recent events in the past decade has cause many people to portrayed immigrants as terrorists, illegal immigrants, gang affiliated members, drug dealers, etc. This raises questions regarding closing the border or limiting the number of people that can migrate to America. Politicians and law makers are too concerned about this matter and had propose solutions and issue laws in attempt to stop foreigners from coming to America. However, as both sides pushes for their ideas on the issue, it is ultimately up to the younger generation to decide the future of immigrants living in America.
Scotty: Dude look at all those Mexicans crossing the border illegally and stealing our jobs! It makes me really mad!! Why can’t they just stay in their own country? Neeyal:
This is because in my family no one has a degree except my father. My father was a teacher, and always encourages me and my brothers to get a career. For my brothers, having a career is very hard, and they believe that school is very difficult to concentrate. Now I am sure that my father will be very proud of me one day after getting my degree. Another example is that my niece Karen sees me as a role model.
I have always viewed my father as the strong provider for the family, but that soon changed. A year ago my father was diagnosed with cancer. Soon after he lost his job, mainly because he was not physically capable of working. Bills after bills became pilling up and the thought of going to college, for the first time seemed far out of the question. I wanted to focus on providing for the family due, to the fact that my mother was not fortunate enough to find a job because she was not legally able too.
She struggled with her decision to stop working and put her schooling on pause. She struggled with injuries from childbearing. She struggled with her marriage, a marriage that took place between two very young lovers blind of reality, and shocked when hit with it. She often engaged

This has helped her overcome so much heartbreak, from losing my dad, my sister, and my brother to her own health issues and through it all her faith has never been shaken. I look at my mother with nothing less than amazement. After my dad had his heart attack and could no longer work my mom never failed to provide for all her children, we didn't have a lot but we always had enough. This made me such a humble and grateful person, and I never take anything I have for granted.
Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to be successful in life. I have always wanted to be the better version of my parents and achieve many things in life. During my freshman year in High school, I knew I was going to major in business. I come from a household of five, my father, mother, two younger sisters, and myself.
